Another ingredient I use in some of Teddy’s Treats is Turmeric.

Here are some Health Benefits of Turmeric for Dogs That Vets believe.

Turmeric:

1. Promotes a healthy immune system: Due to its powerful antioxidant properties, organic turmeric helps support healthy immune system function. It also promotes digestive and heart health. If your dog suffers from inflammatory bowel disease, adding turmeric to their diet can help relieve symptoms like diarrhea. Turmeric also contains anti-coagulating properties that help prevent blood clots and heart disease. The antioxidants in turmeric can also help inhibit the growth of tumors or cancer cells.

2. Soothes joint pain: One of the active ingredients in turmeric is curcumin, a substance with anti-inflammatory properties that supports joint health and can offer pain relief. Consuming turmeric helps the body fight chronic inflammation and reduce joint pain associated with osteoarthritis in senior dogs. You can also give your dog turmeric instead of ibuprofen to limit their intake of anti-inflammatory drugs.

3. Treats skin irritation: Since turmeric is antifungal and antibacterial, you can use it as a topical skin treatment for your dog. Applying a turmeric paste to irritated skin calms itchiness and inflammation associated with skin allergies.

The Shoreline Food Truck Festival was a huge success today! Here are some of the excited and happy pups that stopped by today for some delicious treats. $24 was raised for Docks 4 Dogs in our effort to help fund dog rescue ramps on island canals.

Let's talk about Ceylon Cinnamon. I use this cinnamon, not the kind that you find at the grocery store, in some of Teddy’s Treats. The kind of cinnamon that WE eat is NOT good for dogs at all. But, Ceylon cinnamon has a ton of great benefits for dogs, such as:

Promotes anti-inflammatory responses in the body
Rich in cancer-fighting antioxidants
Boosts immune system health
Helps the body repair tissue damage and fights infection
Lowers blood sugar levels and reduces insulin resistance
Reduces the risk of heart disease
Lowers blood pressure
Inhibits the growth of listeria, salmonella, and other bacteria

Exciting News! Teddy’s Treats will be joining the Shoreline Food Truck Festival downtown Corpus Christi (900 S. Shoreline) this Saturday 3/25 starting at 12 noon. We will be right across from the dog park so bring your pups out for some fun in the sun (hopefully) and Teddy's favorite treats!

INSIDE GRANDMA’S KITCHEN…..

When I started Teddy’s Treats last year I wanted to make sure I included the very best ingredients I could, and ones that Teddy and all of his friends would love how they taste.

I included “ground flaxseeds” that are derived from the flax plant. They are small, nutty-flavored seeds that offer a lot of health benefits for dogs, and come loaded with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, or good fats.

Flaxseeds, sometimes called linseeds, pack a whole lot of fiber and protein into a small serving.

Fiber is important to a dog’s digestive health, while protein provides energy and keeps the immune system strong.

Flaxseeds also contain lignans, which can improve cardiovascular health and may help fight cancer. Anti-inflammatory properties of flaxseed can help ease symptoms of arthritis, lower blood pressure, improve kidney function, and maintain healthy skin and coat in dogs.
