You’ve been lied to about raw milk. It is most certainly for human consumption, but many of us buy it for our pets in certain states as well. Wink!

“Raw milk is packed with all the essential fat-soluble vitamins and minerals in their natural, easily absorbable forms. It contains important minerals like calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, sodium, and sulfur, along with 24 trace minerals that are vital for our health. The best part? All of these nutrients are 100% bioavailable! Raw milk also contains all 60 known enzymes, which play a crucial role in digestion and help release key minerals for our bodies to utilize. These enzymes even protect the milk from harmful pathogens, making it safer to consume. Unfortunately, when milk is pasteurized, less than 10% of these enzymes remain! On the other hand, pasteurized milk is considered “dead milk” because the heating process kills off lactase, making it difficult for many people to digest lactose. 💦 Always bring along water for your dog, and offer it to him on a regular basis, so he or she is less likely to be enticed by salt or stagnant water sources.

Allowing pets to drink standing water runs the risk of them contracting 🪱 parasites such as Giardia, 🦠️ bacteria such as Leptospirosis, or ingesting water contaminated with Blue Green Algae. ⚠️ If your pet ingests as little as one or two mouthfuls of blue-green algae-infested water, it can be fatal to your pet. Signs that your dog has been poisoned can show up within minutes, and you might see vomiting, diarrhea, staggering, weakness, and pale gums. Immediate veterinary intervention is needed!

Bottom line: If you wouldn't swim in the water, you probably shouldn't let your pet either.

It's HOT out there, Earth Animals!🥵
..which means it's time for our annual reminder to be mindful of your dog's needs during the hot summer days. While exercise and daily walks are always needed, make sure you're taking the appropriate precautions for your particular pup based on their breed, weight, age, and the specific conditions.

If you must spend time outdoors in extreme heat conditions, offer plenty of water, find shade, and walk them on grass (or wear booties!) instead of hot pavement.

It will be the same as the last 3 years. Dog parade to the Senior Living facility next door to St. Paul to share furry love with the residents there. They will then have a best Pride dog costume contest. Free Hotdogs, bottled water, prizes for dogs and kids, bouncy house and a firetruck visit. Plenty of water bowls, treats and a small pool for the dogs to enjoy.
