The Puppy House was created to help with the small puppies that are found and as a whelping house for new momma dogs found on the streets and high kill shelters. The Puppy House was opened March of 2012 through a collaboration of many locals. Since then there has been more than 400 puppies and momma dogs come through the doors. While we rely on the kindness of others for food and supplies, our goa

l is to help as many as possible for as long as it is possible. All dogs and puppies shown occupying the Puppy House are available through 501c rescues.

Today I had to let my Abby pass in peace. She been having a rough time the last few months and the last couple of days it got much worse. She wouldn’t even eat yesterday and that was her favorite thing in the world. I know she has been missing Zoey as they had a tight bond, but now my 3 ladies are back together again. I know she has missed Zoey cleaning her ears and her eye out.

Abby was a special girl coming to me after her first 5-6 years living in horrific conditions. She had her 12 puppies, one of the worst cases of heartworms my vet had ever seen, tick borne disease, missing eye and teeth. But she was the happiest, most grateful, loving girl in the world. She would dance for her dinner and treats and love on all The Puppy House puppies that came through. We believe my girl was about 15 years old.

Big thank you to Save a Lab who sent this baby girl to me and let me adopt her. She takes a big chunk of my heart with her.

So I thought I would share that my boy Gunner has a new brother from another mother. Introducing Waylon the golden doodle and Gunners new bestie. He is just a couple of weeks shy of 6 months and was neutered yesterday. The first week or so he was finding his groove, now they wrestle and play all the time. With my sweet Abbie girl really starting to show her age, it gives Gunner a buddy and her time to enjoy her naps to the fullest. 🥰🥰🥰

Can you believe that Waylon was an owner surrender. Circumstances change for the owner and Waylon was getting the short end of the stick. Kenneled a lot. He did the best he could for Waylon and him and Gunner are able to come and go as they please. No more kennels for this boy.

Gunner and his hip surgery update.

It’s been about 4 months since his surgery and you can’t really tell he had FHO surgery. He feels no pain and runs like the wind. I am so glad it has been so easy on my boy. 🥰

Gunner has a new friend hanging out for a while. Her name is River and she was rescued by a friend of mine along with her little puppies. The little fatties.

Well she’s here hanging out with Gunner while her milk dries up and waits to be spayed. Then she will be all ready to go up for adoption. Have to say, Gunner is over the moon to play with someone all day long.

For those that don’t know. My old job was closed due to a bankruptcy and I was out of work for a while. I did take a new position running a Pet Store. Working in a Pet Store means that I could potentially bring home illnesses to small puppies. So for now until I figure it all out I am fostering in a new way.

For those not on my personal facebook I wanted to share that I lost my precious Zoey on Monday. Her hips just decided to stop working and I had to choose what was best for her. She was going on 13 years old, spend 9 years as a therapy dog mostly at Driscoll, was a sister/Aunt to countless puppies. She was the best girl and is very missed around here. Gunner is really feeling it more than I thought he might. 💔💔

It’s been a heck of a week. First week of work and my baby boy Gunner while chasing tennis balls popped completely dislocated his hip. Chasing tennis balls of course and running into the fence not paying attention.

We are trying by having a procedure today to see if putting it back into place and incapacitating the leg will allow it to go back to normal. 🙏🏻🤞🏻

If not next stop will be major surgery which I would hate for him. 😭.

For those that don’t know. My company went bankrupt and I have been out of work for going on 3 months. I just began work at the Pet Supplies Plus in Corpus Christi so I get to play with doggies all day at work too now. It would have been a great week if my boo here wasn’t hurt. 😢

Update on my girl. Dr Pigott after looking at her X-rays and whatnot wanted to do something special for our girl. He is going to take over her care and get her with an orthopedic vet and try to save the leg. He is going to take on her medical bills and help her. The hardest part with rescue is that financially they can’t always try different options because of how much it may cost. This is going to be the best for her and she will still live in a home which is great for her too. I’m going to miss her. ❤️

This morning our pretty little princess Star has gone in to get her surgery done. She has been really favoring that leg and holds it up all the time. It’s like she doesn’t want to put pressure on it because it’s uncomfortable. She never lets it slow her down though.

Positive thoughts for this little one today as she goes through her surgery. I will update everyone later on how she does. I’m just sure she is going to bounce back quickly because she is a definite survivor.

Princess Star is being such a good girl. She has been going potty outside and playing with the toys and not chewing on the house. We saw the vet yesterday and the surgery is super expensive. So we are going to look into a few other offices first. Meanwhile this girl is going to be the very best addition to a family when she’s ready. 🥰

Well yesterday all the pups headed out on their big adventure to their forever homes but little Miss Star stayed behind so that we could look into her leg.

It seems that with the lack of ability to move it at all it is developing large calluses that could cause infection. She has a doctors appointment on Monday and we will decide more than likely to take it off. She really just tries to flop it around and having it bandaged or sores on it will really slow her down.

She is obviously not missing her siblings with Uncle Gunner around though. She’s a hoot to watch. 🥰

It’s all boys all the time. Today the boys are first up for their gift of love. Hehe. They are all being neutered the monsters.

Oh my goodness. These hungry hungry hippos have eaten through all 6 bags of food they got so far. They eat like crazy the fatties and have 4 more weeks before they can head to their forever homes.

Look at these hoodlums. They are so funny, it’s been awhile since I didn’t have giant puppies. They are still small enough to escape out the side of the gate to steal all of Gunners toys. Momma isn’t happy she doesn’t fit too. 🤣

So today me and my little Princess Star went to go see Kim with K9 Conditioning and Rehab to see what kind of options were out there for our girl.

She has some use of it. But it seems that her Superficial Digit Flexor Tendon was severed by momma in her attempts to clean her. So basically it’s there but she has no control of her toes.

There are a few things she will look into for her. We have amputation as one option. Possible surgical options, basically fusing the bones together. Maybe a brace but will be have to be changed multiple times as she gets older. Even a partial amputation with a prosthetic. She is researching the different items for us and give us an idea of costs.

I love that A Second Chance for Ziva doesn’t just look at the easy fix by amputation but also considers other possibilities that would be best for her as a whole. I am very glad that they do what they can for all the fur babies.

One thing that is good. It doesn’t hurt her and she gets around well though she does kind of throw it in front of her in a silly walk. But she bunny hops to run which is very cute. She’s definitely a determined little thing. Wagging tail and all. ❤️❤️❤️

The main concern with letting it go as is that she will develop calluses and possibly it will get infected. That’s why we are looking to see what we can do.

For everyone who asks about our baby girl Star. Here she is just as happy as can be. I worry because she does walk in the hock and not her foot but will see what our Conditioning and Rehab lady thinks about it. She will 💯 know what would be the best for her and what we can do with it.

Momma Luna has a love/hate relationship with the neighbor behind me’s dog. Every morning the dog comes out and jumps on the fence and she does this little dance. LOL. She’s a nut.

Look who came outside for their first time. The kids came over to play with them today and I changed their bed around. Now they have access to their dog door so I don’t have to do laundry 3 times a day. 💩 is a bummer. 🤣 Meanwhile momma went out to play with Gunner and they are having a great time.

Yep, they just kept going and going and going. 🐷🐽🐷

So with teeth coming in it is time to try some real food. I think that it was a resounding success. These babies like their food

Today the first baby crawled the wall and escaped. How can they be walking around already, growing way too fast. Well their world just doubled in size so they can go over as they please. Next week will be about time for the doggie door. OMG!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Call the zoo because I think they have some bear cubs missing!!!! Look how big these babies got so fast. And a few I think are going to be fluffy!!! Love big fat fluffy puppies. First thing tomorrow I am taking Star to the vet to look at her leg and see what he thinks we should do next. It is all healed which is great. Now time will tell.

Babies are on the move. In the very beginning you can see baby girl Star, the one without a collar walking by. You will see her little white toes as she kind of uses it. Let’s hope it gets stronger and more functional. ❤️❤️❤️ Happy Friday everyone.
