Hi Everyone! We are making up for lost time. Amigo had a visit from Christine Mullins & family. Christine was one of Amigo's vet students 13 years ago when Amigo was at UT. Here is what Christine recently had to say recently about her experience all those years ago: "The night he came into the vet school with the branch in his chest he was given a 2% chance to live but the owners wanted to give him a chance. He spent 4 months at the vet school. We spent a lot of time cleaning wounds, walking outside and doing anything we could to try and save him. It was a perfect way to end my last few months of vet school because it showed me to not give up on my patients even when the odds are extremely low."

We are so thankful for everyone who cared for our boy, prayed for our boy and supported us both near and far. Thank you for continuing to think about him and love him. You are all amazing!

Hi everyone! Amigo, Bliss, Red, Rogue & Quest had a visit from the Fontanarosa family yesterday. We met the Fontanarosa‘s when our boy Amigo was at UT fighting for his life 13 years ago. Everyone enjoyed all the love and attention and they even brought watermelon! Meegster loves watermelon 💜

It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you guys of the passing of Tish Ray. When informed of her death...I was told..."She was one of Amigo's fans"....I said: "No...she was one of his MAIN supporters". Tish had a heart of gold. Although she wasn't rich, by any means, she sent what she could to help Amigo back in 2010...when we needed it the most. I remember...it was around mid-March, when I'd lost about 17 lbs. and a couple of inches off my waist...I was living primarily out of my car....and at UT until late night...with a very badly injured horse that you're all familiar with...I was overwhelmed...both emotionally and financially....It was before a phone call to Horsetalk.com when I spoke with Tish...I was concerned with not having a breakdown on the air. Tish gave me hope and the confidence to keep going at a time when I wasn't sure that I could hold up much longer....Tish also sat on the board for Amigo's fund () distribution. Please take a moment tonight to remember those folks who have a huge caring heart....I know I will. Here is Tish's obituary...I'm sure to most, it tells of her life. To me, it doesn't do her justice...Much love Tish...and Godspeed my friend.

Patricia (Tish)Ann Ray 68, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Tuesday September 1, 2020. She was a member of Laurel Church of Christ and worked for 37 years as a Psychiatric Social Worker at Lakeshore. Tish graduated from South High School, University of Tennessee, and completed her M.S.W degree from Vanderbilt University. She was preceded by parents, Robert and Luella Ray; Brother, Bruce Ray. Tish is survived by Sisters, Sue (Dick) Holt and Kathy High; Several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be announced at a later date on Berry Funeral Home web site. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com

Have had it on my heart to share about how special Amigo is for quite some time, but can't figure out how to put it into words. So I am just going to type it out now, babbling and all.

We have lost two of our horses in the last year - Gooby on May 5, 2019 and Sysco on Jan 21, 2020. Both were devastating to us.

Gooby was fine at 11 am, and he was gone by 5 pm. I still do don't really understand what happened. I checked on the horses and barn cats, then we went out to lunch. We were walking around Market Square when we got a call that Goob was acting drunk. By the time we could get home, he was down and he drew his last breath. I felt like my chest was crushed. I sat and cried for who knows how long. I was aware at that time that Amigo was nearby, up the hill watching over us. I was still sitting with Gooby when I heard the horses running from the far pasture up the hill behind me. I then realized that the whole herd must have been up there when Gooby started to feel bad. He headed back to the barn, and Amigo went with him. Amigo was the only one that was with Gooby. Amigo must have realized he felt bad and he would not let him go alone. That meant so much to me to know that Gooby was not alone.

Sysco's situation was very different. He managed to get his hoof through the barn wall and was down. Gary had to saw the board off to get him free. Long sad story short, 36 hours and 3 UT vet visits later, we had to let him go.
While we were with Sysco during this time, you can imagine who was right there with us - our own little guardian angel Amigo. I think he was there to help us all, the humans and the horses. Maybe it's because he has seen the light himself that makes him so special. Or maybe he had that special something before his accident. I just know he is one Amazing Horse. Our own guardian angel.

Can anyone believe that it has been 10 years? ...I can't! Amigo continues to thrive and is living the good horse life at Catamount. I've been thinking recently...about doing a bit of editing on the book I wrote about his injury, making it available on Amazon for a fairly cheap prize and donating the profits to 'Amigo's Fund' over at UT. Incidentally, though we never asked for donations back when Amigo was injured, I'm certainly not above asking for donations to the fund to help someone else's horse....so if you're looking for something to do with all those piles of cash laying around....Amigo's Fund is tax deductible...Much love and success in 2020 all!...Amigo's Dad

Good morning!! When I was out yesterday, all 8 horses were warming in the morning sun. While trying to get a photo of all 8, only one - Amigo, insisted on coming over to say HI!
