So now you know why the price of the puppy is what it is!!!!!

There is a reason our dogs are the price they are as these are not dogs that just sit in our yard, eat ol'roy and when the females in heat she magically becomes pregnant while we are off living our life. 63 days later, we don't come home to a pile of cash born in the dirt and cold outside. Where we wait 8 weeks doing the bare minimum and send them off into the world to cash in.

We, along with other reputable breeders, spend thousands each year to care for our dogs, quality food, care, and vet bills and supplies. When we have puppies, we are with them 24/7. They don't leave our sight for the first 3-4 weeks, and we continue to be extra vigilant about their care and health the entire 6-8 weeks, sometimes longer, that they are with us.

We monitor weights and feeding (every 2-3 hours for 28 days, if not longer) we bottle feed, we tube feed, sometimes having to go the extra mile with antibiotics, fluids, and other medications on a puppy who is not doing the best (and no most vets have no idea how to properly care for or help us with neonates!)

We routinely put our needs aside to ensure the safety of the puppies, sometimes to the point of complete exhaustion and sickness for ourselves. We cancel our lives: vacations, events, weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays. Everything is on hold when we have puppies.

We are there 24/7 for our adopters for life. We are family once you choose our puppies.

We endure losses and hardships , happiness, and success behind the scenes of these perfect babies. Breeding is no joke. It's a lifestyle. A passion. A dream to better the breed.

When we don't have puppies, we still have daily upkeep and care of our dogs, family, and home. We also utilize this time for training and further educating ourselves so we can be the best we possibly can be.

It's not an easy job, mentally or physically, but we love what we do and we do it to ensure healthy, stable and well adjusted puppies are going to their new families who have waited and dreamed about them.

If you went to a dealership to buy yourself a new car- you found a car you liked and the salesman gave you a price on the car, but you decided to look around some more. Then several months later you came back to find the dealership still had the car but had put on chrome wheels, automatic car starter and all the bells and whistles- would you expect the car to be the same price that you were given before all the improvements??? Probably not! Or even if you thought it should be the same price, do you really think the dealership is gng to sell you the car with all the newly added improvements for the same price and take a loss?

If you inquired about a puppy at 8 weeks old, who had only one vet visit and 1 set of shots, and appropriate preventatives for that age, Now you inquire about the same puppy who is 18 weeks and has had ALL puppy vaccinations & preventatives done, Why would you expect the puppy to still cost what it did at 8 weeks? Especially considering that if you would have purchased the puppy at 8 weeks, YOU would have had to pay for those same vaccinations & preventatives as part of your responsibility as a pet owner, but now that is all done for you. You don’t have to make an appointment, take off work or deal with taking the puppy in for these things bc they’re already done. But you want to accuse the breeder of trying to rip you off? If there is a vets office that gives FREE exams, FREE vaccinations, & FREE preventatives I would Love to know where they are, because My vet charges for all these things.
So if anyone is trying to rip anyone off, it seems the person expecting all of this to be done, but pay NOTHING for it is trying to rip off the breeder.
I don’t appreciate someone trying to rip Me off and I don’t deal with people who do Not appreciate that I keep my puppies Healthy & up to date on vaccinations & preventatives because that is part of being a responsible breeder. If I had skipped these necessary vaccinations & preventatives in order to give you a cheaper puppy, that puts my puppies at risk- a Risk I WILL NOT TAKE! And I will Not place my puppies with anyone who expects that they will not have to invest in the health of this puppy, plain & simple!! There is Much more cost associated with owning a puppy/dog than Just the purchase price, so if you can’t afford necessary health maintenance you should Not be shopping for a puppy.

Why animal breeders may not invite you in anymore

You’ve probably read somewhere, maybe even from me, that a breeder that won’t let you see where animals are kept or meet your animals is a big red flag.

That breeders who won’t let you meet the animals or see where they are kept must be hiding something.

Well that’s no longer true

Why you ask?

Because there is a vendetta in the USA right now against breeders, even the really good breeders.

Anti breeder types, be they from HSUS or PETA or other animal rights groups or overzealous animal shelter workers or other similar people are making it their life’s work to get breeders animal seized and stop all breeding.

Many times this involves lying, filing false complaints or worse- setting the breeder up.
Sometimes these people even gain the breeder’s trust or work for them.

No matter how clean your animals are.
No matter how well fed and clean your animals are.
No matter how careful you are to only breed the best and most fully health tested animals
No matter how much time and money you put into them and how much money you lose.

These people are looking to get your dogs or any type of animal seized, to get another “horrible breeder” story in the news, to use you and your animals to get restrictive laws passed.

Breeders now must not only do their absolute best , they now must guard against those that would destroy their life’s work and the animals they love for no reason other than hate.

So the next time an animal breeder grills you with questions, or meets you in their driveway or even at the shopping center in their town, don’t hold it against them - they may just be doing all they can to keep hateful people from destroying all they love. Or to steal your dogs.
