I have been adamantly opposed to shock collars aka E collars, mini educators....all the same. I prefer to work without pain and fear. I cannot imagine using these on my dogs and definitely not on my sweet girls.

Having worked with dogs that another "trainer" used a shock collar on. I have seen stress, fear and lower body posturing. Wouldn't you worry if you had been shocked?

These have been banned in several countries.

Use the brain God gave you to teach your dog, who too has a brain to learn.

Dozens of peer review studies have demonstrated the dangers, potential short- and long-term impact of using shock collars (e-collars) on dogs. And just now a $1.9 million consumer class action arising out of misrepresentations and omissions by parent company Radio Systems in connection with its manu...

I have been switching to safer and plant based options for cleaning. I buy from a company based out of Idaho.

I highly suspect cancer is another result of chemical cleaning.

I feel better using natural around my dogs and us.

I came home one day to a strong clorox chemical smell, Mark had bought some chemical based product cleaner to clean the bathroom with. Getting him to change as well has been a little tough.

We are programmed to use store bought cleaners. No more here!

If you want to know more, happy to set you up on the wellness journey.

8 M old active adolescent pup.
The only time I do such intense filming, mostly for the owners.

We did hang out outside the door till she calmed enough to go in.

We took a 20 minute bench break to watch customers and rest.

I narrowed videos down to 7 minutes. She responds well to touch and calm praise over treats.

We did not work on obedience, just helping to calm her emotions and respond to my body cues. Doing intense obedience frustrates her, baby steps. I thought for such a active pup she responded very well.

It's important to get your adolescent pups to see novel areas, taking it all end.

You will see we did encounter 3 large dogs, the video is how I calmed her.

Today I worked on a old trash and burn pile left by the previous owner. Trash surfaces every year. The girls went out with me, I had treats. When they checked in on thier own, I rewarded!

They did great! Only twice did they go behind the barn where I called them back.

Allow your dog to be a dog!

There’s this idea floating around in positive training circles:
Play is training. Training is play. You’re always training. The dog is always learning.
I know the intentions behind this are good. The idea is to remind us that dogs are always making new connections and learning from their environment.
But somewhere along the way, it turned into something else. Something that makes people feel like they need to use every single moment of their dog’s life for training.
I recently had a student tell me that even before her dog is allowed to curl up on the couch with her, he has to sit and stay first — because she’s “always training.”
And that is not what we, as trainers, ever meant.
Now, I say this as a dog trainer — someone who clearly values and believes in training. But if you only ever view your life with your dog through the lens of training, you will miss out on SO MUCH.
Your dog has so much more to offer and experience than constant training. Their life (and yours) will be richer, happier, and more fulfilled if you let go of the pressure to train in every moment.
Yes, there is a time and place for training. But there is also so much beyond it.
When your dog wants to cuddle up with you, you don’t need to turn it into a sit-stay exercise. You just cuddle your dog.
When your dog has the zoomies and is running around full of joy, you don’t need to worry whether it’s reinforcing the “wrong” thing.
You just smile, watch, and soak up their happiness. (Personally, seeing my dogs racing around is one of the single happiest things in my life.)
Not everything has to be about training. Not everything needs to serve a training agenda. You should do things simply because it makes yourself and your dog happy.
So no - play is not always training. Cuddling is not training. Zoomies are not training.
Your dog is not just a “training project.”
They are so much more than that.

Dog bites! Who is at fault? It's human error, our communication is confusing, we get mad, expecting to much.

Years ago I was going for my second qualifying round with rally. Ice was tired and as I took him to the course ( It was hot) he pulled back and air snapped at me. I did NOT push him, I scratched the round. I honored him, he was tired. We did get the title another day. Had I pushed him, he might have redirected to a bite.

The judge told me if I give in he will never get into another Rally ring. I said If I do push him, HE WON'T get into the Rally ring. Who was right?🤔🙂

I love this!

All dogs need teaching for good survival skills. How did the girls do?

This is something I try to teach owners. Keep it simple, watch your verbal cues.

Also stop using praise and cues together.

Sit.....Good sit. Just praise, adding the cue the dog has been taught can be confusing. Dogs have childlike brains, not complex, yet we make it complex thus confusing our dogs.
