Empathy For Animals

Empathy For Animals Every little bit adds up to make a substantial difference for the animals. Together as a community, we can come together to save those who need it most.

Empathy for Animals is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue who aims to reduce suffering, protect and provide a better quality of life for abused, abandoned and neglected animals. We are a small, yet dedicated no-kill foster-based rescue located in Cortland, Ohio providing animals refuge while receiving necessary veterinary care and finding them responsible, loving, adoptive families. Hi friends. I write to you today to thank you so so much for your endless support through sharing, adopting, donating and all your kind words. They’ve truly meant the world to me over the last handful of years. I’ve poured every bit of my heart into this organization and given 110% to every cat and dog that has crossed our path or came into our care. I really couldn’t have done it without all of you.

It is with the heaviest heart that I inform you Empathy For Animals will be closing. Thanks to all your support, we’ve been able to vet & adopt out hundreds of cats into incredible indoor homes! We’ve helped TNR countless feral cats in our community to stop the cycle of homeless kittens being born. We’ve been able to assist international rescues bringing animals here to safety in the US to find loving families. I have been so fortunate to form close relationships with so many of our adopters and I will always be here for you if you ever need anything with your pets who have come through my care.

I began this rescue with high expectations & the best intentions with how it would be ran and operated; unfortunately life has had many changes and truthfully I can no longer run it full throttle how I once did. We plan to continue fostering as we’re able to both independently & through several of our wonderful local organizations that we love and support who have a similar mission to ourselves to combat animal homelessness and cruelty. *This isn’t the end of our rescue days*, just the end of this organization. I plan to keep this page active for our foster efforts & bringing our local rescue efforts together. We thank you all again soooooo so much for your support over the years, it’s truly been wonderful serving our community.

Sincerely,
Alyssa💛

PLEASE PLEASE READ & SHARE🥺

This is a really difficult post I’m making on behalf of someone very close to me. Please read, help share, reach out if you’re interested & can help and absolutely no negative comments or they’ll be deleted.

This boy, a neutered full bred Alaskan Malamute, 6 years old has been a beloved family member since a small puppy. Unfortunately the night before July 4th an incident happened in the home where their little girl was kissing him on the head and he bit her in the face causing the need for stitches. He is urgently in need of a new adult only home or is facing the risk of euthanasia if he can’t be placed. It’s a horrible reality when situations like this happen but he can no longer live in his current environment.

He has been through several obedience training classes when he was younger and truly has been a wonderful companion to the family leading up to this point. He’s been very loyal and protective to them. We believe he could still be a wonderful family member he just needs to be in a home with responsible adults only.

He hasn’t lived with other cats or dogs so it’s hard to say for sure how he would do but he has stayed in a friends home with cats before for several weeks and seemed to do well with them He used to go to the dog park and also hung out with my dog Scofield last night and did great; we would help facilitate proper introductions with other animals if a committed family was interested in him.

He just had a clear vet visit & updated vaccines. If you’re interested in adoption or can help please reach out. Thank you so much. ❤️
