Left untreated, chronic pain from arthritis and other common age-related conditions can negatively affect your senior pet’s quality of life. But prompt diagnosis and treatment can restore comfortable mobility, allowing your senior pet to age with grace—not pain.

Subtle—and not so subtle—pain signs may include:
🤕Panting
🤕Hunching
🤕Hiding
🤕Increased sleeping or restlessness
🤕Irritability or aggression
🤕Decreased interest in physical activities or play
🤕Avoiding physical contact
🤕Increased or decreased grooming

Schedule an appointment if your senior pet is demonstrating any of these common pain signs.

Taconic Veterinary Center’s Pet of the Week is bold, smooth, and a purr-fect vintage!

Meet Pinot, a 5-year-old tabby with a full-bodied love for fun. This playful kitty is the perfect blend of charm and mischief 😼 He’s a catch playing connoisseur and a chase the snake toy sommelier. When he’s not showing off his athletic skills, you’ll find him glued to bird 🐦 and squirrel 🌰 TV, chirping at the screen like he’s giving live commentary. Pinot truly is the whole kit and cabernet 🍷😹

Limping is a classic sign of pain in pets, but it’s not the most common. Senior pets learn to adapt to their discomfort by changing how they move. These compensations can appear as changes in behavior or personality when they’re actually masking chronic pain.

Is your senior pet’s mobility not quite what it used to be? Contact our team to schedule an appointment.

🌟 Belated Practice Manager Appreciation Week! 🌟
(But honestly… we appreciate you every week.)

We may be a little late, but our gratitude for our incredible Practice Manager, Suzann, is always right on time. 💛

To the one who keeps our clinic running smoothly, supports our team through every challenge, celebrates our wins, and makes sure our patients and clients receive the best care possible — thank you.

Your leadership, organization, compassion, and calm-in-the-chaos energy make all the difference. You juggle schedules, solve problems we didn’t even know existed, and somehow still find time to be a mentor, motivator, and friendly face for everyone who walks through our doors.

Our team — and our patients — are truly better because of you.
Thank you for all that you do, seen and unseen. 🐾💙

Happy (Belated!) Practice Manager Appreciation Week!
We’re so lucky to have you.

Let’s raise the woof for Taconic Veterinary Center’s Pet of the Week!

Meet Hampton, a 7-year-old wooly Husky with a heart as warm as her fluffy coat 💙She’s full of energy and plays with her siblings like a pup, often rolling on the ground with her paws in the air just for fun 🐾 Her signature move? A happy Husky “tap-dance” to greet you at the door...full of bounce, wiggles, and pure joy! When she was adopted last year from a city apartment, it was unsure how she’d handle country living. But her Husky instincts kicked right in! Now she roams the yard like she’s always belonged... a true country girl through and through 🏡
