🐾 October was pawsitively amazing at Heartland Humane! We found forever homes for 131 furry friends, including 102 cats, 24 dogs, 4 guinea pigs, and even a bunny ( but we also have more bunnies looking for their forever homes, pst hi Trix in your cozy winter vest! 🐰)

We also helped reunite 38 lost pets with their families - that's 20 dogs and 18 cats back where they belong! ♥️

Looking for love? Meet Marco, our playful pup searching for his perfect match, and Cheep & Hoss, our dynamic duo who've been warming hearts since July!

None of this would be possible without our incredible volunteers who make every tail wag and purr happen. You're the heart in Heartland! 💕

🎉 Sweet treats and sweeter endings! Six amazing pets have found their forever homes! 🏠

A special shoutout to Captain Cheeseburger, Trixie, S'mores, and Coconut Cream Pie on their adoptions - with names this delicious, how could anyone resist? 🍔🥧

But wait, there's an extra sprinkle of joy! 💕 Odie and his sister Piper got adopted TOGETHER! These inseparable siblings show us what family is all about, with Piper helping guide her one-eyed brother through life's adventures. Talk about sibling goals! 🐱🐱

Our feline friends are feeling a bit under the weather, so we're taking a quick two-week break from accepting new stray cats. Just like this adorable patient here, our kitties need some R&R to get back to their purr-fect selves!

🎃 Trick or treat! While you're stocking up on Halloween candy, let's make sure our furry friends stay safe! 🐾

Did you know chocolate can be seriously dangerous for pets? Keep those candy stashes locked away in closed cabinets – our curious companions are masters at finding treats in sneaky places! 🔒

🚨 Watch out for these warning signs of chocolate toxicity and contact your vet if you notice anything:
-Vomiting
-Diarrhea
-Rapid heart rate
-In severe cases: seizures or worse

Prevention is the best treat! Here are some quick tips:
✅ Store chocolate in secure, closed cabinets
✅ Consider adding pet locks if needed
✅ Properly dispose of all wrappers
✅ Keep Halloween candy bowls out of paw's reach!

Meet Pez! 🐱 This sweet ginger boy came to us as a stray, and like all our new friends, he received a thorough check-up from our dedicated animal care team. Their careful examination revealed something unexpected – an old bullet lodged in his chest area, now completely healed over.

Despite his tough past and a little nervousness in his new setting, Pez is a happy, loving boy who shows no signs of discomfort. Our amazing vet team will remove the foreign object when it's time for his routine surgery.

Big shoutout to our incredible animal care staff whose thorough care helps ensure every animal gets the attention they deserve! 🏆

Pez is proof that even after difficult times, there's always room for second chances and happy endings. 🧡

Kittens Are Arriving at Heartland

Kitten Season has officially begun! Heartland is closed to the public, but our work with the animals continues. We need your help now more than ever. Make a donation today or shop items from our Kitten Season Wish List. Make sure to include your contact information in the gift receipt so that we can thank you. Monetary and in-kind donations are tax deductible.

Heartland has already received our first litters of bottle babies. These newborns went straight to foster homes where they will receive critical nutrition and socialization until they are old enough to be in the shelter. Heartland remains an open intake shelter for animals in Benton County. If you find kittens, please wait before moving them (mother may be hiding close by). If you suspect they are without a mother cat, please email us for next steps: [email protected].
