Cool off in the tub! Tips: *if your dog is a go-getter, lay a yoga mat or other non-slip surface down first. You may need one both inside and outside of the tub for safety. Nikki is one of the more wiggly dogs that I get to see on a regular basis. We have been working on her chin rest for a week or so now and she is finally starting to get it! Puppies go through several destructive phases as they grow. It's normal! I have always found that whatever the puppy is doing at the moment to drive me crazy is likely a very real need that must be met. When they are in "seek and destroy" mode, a Destruction Box is a cheap and easy outlet for the otherwise expensive and potentially dangerous behaviors of searching and dissecting household items or plushy toys. First, simply gather some dog-safe recycling. I like various thicknesses of cardboard and paper for Uma. She doesn't eat the little pieces and is REALLY into dissecting things right now. Next, layer them into a box or big paper bag. You can add treats and food to these layers to make meal time more entertaining, or to help a puppy who likes eating paper enjoy this activity safely. Eating a few scraps is ok, an entire Cheerios box would not be! Give it to the puppy, then sit back and enjoy their antics!
