After riding Robin Bond's Kiger Zapata KCA (BLM Mustang) in the USAWE Train to Win Clinic, I had to share a photo of my BLM Mustang, Mariah. This photo was when she was about 7 or 8 years old and working on her Second Level Dressage. She came off the range at 3 years old and I got her when she was about 5 or 6 and took her from Training Level to Second Level Dressage and she eventually went PSG. She was amazing!

The USAWE Train to Win Clinic #2 at El Campeon Farms with WAWE (World Association of Working Equitation) judge Jose Benito was truly an amazing educational opportunity and a wonderful chance to meet the USAWE International Committee and fellow upper-level riders from across the country!

I am so grateful to Robin Bond for thinking of me and loaning me her amazing horse, Kiger Zapata KCA. Zapata, named for Emiliano Zapata, the Mexican revolutionary, is an 11-year-old Kiger Mustang stallion who was gathered from the wild in 2015 at 2 years old and is currently competing at Intermediate B.

Thanks to Robin, Zapata is so well trained that I was able to figure him out in one ride and then ride him the next three days in the clinic with an international judge. Zapata has so much heart; he is a blast to ride! By the third day we did everything in Ease of Handling one-handed! I hope Robin and Zapata are able to showcase the character and beauty of the American Mustang at the 2026 world championships in Spain. Good luck to us all in the current team selection process! 😁

Gladheart Linhawk, better known as LC or Little Man, is still a tempi machine at age 26! He is small (a 13.3hh Morgan) but mighty. Thank you Jack and Bernadette Stang for letting me ride your magnificent pony all these years.

Took a break from competing at Twin Rivers Summer Solstice Dressage show at SilverTail Farm yesterday (Maus had a
ride at PSG) to give Emily Callihan and Sugar a dressage lesson at Emerald Valley Equestrian. I could not quite catch the perfect shot with them framed in the sunlight. But they do make a pretty picture. I am so proud of this pair!! Thank you Tami Platt for this fantastic opportunity and sharing Sugar with us.

Had a super Working Equitation Show last weekend with Gladheart Black Harris (Maus) and RedPrairie Storm (Tyrion). Maus debuted at Masters Level with some super scores in dressage and Ease of Handling (68-70%) and Tyrion went for solid Dressage and EOH scores between 65 and 68% with a high score in Dressage of 74%!! That got us a bottle of wine as a prize! Both horses won their divisions in Show 1 and Show 2 and each horse received a very cool halter! Special thanks to Kent Wright for hosting this wonderful show and Julie Alonzo for managing another terrific show always with a smile and the fantastic judges Barbara Miller Price and Kim Roe and our amazing TD Tracey Erway! As always, a big thank you to Jack and Bernadette Stang for letting me play with their amazing horse, Gladheart Black Harris.

Day 1 of the MHAO (Morgan Horse Association of Oregon) Working Equitation Educational Event and Annual Meeting. Maus (Gladheart Black Harris) was a big help in helping introduce the sport to the many auditors that came to learn about WE and the riders that came to hone their working equitation skills. Maus was a champ, doing an hour long demo with questions and answers while I rode with a wireless mic. How fun and a great exercise in breath control😆 My thanks, as always, to Jack and Bernadette Stang for allowing me to use Maus in these kinds of events (he makes me look good) and for our long standing friendship and mutual support society. My thanks also to Patricia Carlson who organized this event and Eduardo Sanchez for hosting it at the beautiful Singing Hills Stables and to the many auditors and riders who brought such enthusiasm to the clinic. Thank you all for all the kind words and to the riders for being so open to learning and who all did so very well!
