🚨TNR kitty (Casper) update! Well, he is not a girl! He is a neutered male. I got overruled on the name as everybody wanted Casper LOL.

As suspected he had lots of fleas, so he had a bath and has been flea treated. He was such a good boy. He was dehydrated and received fluids. His gums are pale, so he is likely anemic and will be getting blood work so we can see where he is at.

We are trying to figure out his favorite food, and he absolutely loves Hydra care which is going to help him with his dehydration. He has been dewormed and vaccinated and is comfortable.
His wounds are clean, and he is safe.

He is very very sweet and definitely never should have been out there. Sadly he has tested positive for FIV which might make his adoption a little more difficult but that's okay with us. The great news to us is that he is Leukemia negative. That means he can have a nice long life.

It might take him a little bit longer to get back to himself with the FIV but this is one kitty that I'm glad is no longer on the streets.

Thank you to everyone who is cheering for this sweet boy to recover, and if your community has a TNR program, please please please look out for those ones that should not be out there because you may be the only one who is. A regular bowl of food may be the difference between life and death. Practice kindness ❤️

⭐️⭐️UPDATE⭐️⭐️
We posted this contest in June, and many people submitted photos of their adorable cats and kittens they adopted from KCR. We couldn’t choose just 12 and decided to include all the submissions!
Arriving very soon is the Kentuckiana Cat Rescue 2025 calendar! They will look great on your wall at home, and they’ll make lovely holiday gifts. 😻
The cover features Baby Bean, the kitten that inspired Nadya to start the rescue.

____________
Have you adopted a cat/kitten from us since we opened in March, 2023? If so, you are invited to enter the 2025 cat calendar contest! Send us a picture of the feline you adopted. Our contest crew will choose the best pics and ask those owners to submit a bit more information. Then comes the fun part! We will post the top contenders for voting. You can vote for your favorite kitty, each dollar donated will equal one vote. The top 12 cats (or maybe 18 if we can) will be featured in the first Kentuckiana Cat Rescue calendar for 2025!! So please share you best shots in this post. No message, email or text pictures will be accepted, sorry. Only those in this post. You have 5 days (till the 1st) to submit so get those entries in soon!! Good luck! 😻😻

🚨 This photo is of a cat that we got a call about tonight. This is what happens when TNR goes wrong. An indoor cat cannot survive outside. This is also what happens when people dump their cats. Most cats that have lived inside their whole life will only live weeks if they are lucky, maybe months once they are dumped if they are not rescued.

This is a cat that was fixed through a TNR program. The first problem here is that white cats are very prone to skin cancer when they are outside. The second problem is she obviously is not successfully navigating being an outdoor cat. The third problem is that when this cat was rescued and taken in for assessment by the very same organization that TNR'd her, they told the rescuer to go put her back where they found her because she looked fine to them. Does this cat look fine to you? Even if you look past the fact that she is severely underweight, is likely riddled with parasites, and has widespread hair loss with winter approaching, there is a nasty wound on her face that requires care before that gets infected.

I will say that this is a very respected organization, outside of our county, and outside of our adjacent counties. But with that mentality, how are any of them expected to survive? This kitty is coming to us tomorrow. She will have a long way to go to recovery.

🚨Please share! Just a handful of our adoptables! Some of these kitties have been here for a very long time and would love their chance to go to a forever home. Every picture has a story attached to it, so take a moment to read about these wonderful felines and where they've been. Who knows? Even if you can't adopt, maybe you know someone who will!

Can't adopt but want to sponsor a Kitty for adoption? You can pay the adoption fee to make it easier for someone else to adopt. Just send us a text, and let us know who you would like to sponsor. If it's okay with the adopter, we could even share your information so that you can follow your sponsored kitty's progress in their new home. We will update the post with 'Sponsored' in that case.

All are fixed, vaccinated, microchipped, combo tested, flea and worm free.

🚨Meet Garfield! What a difference a few days makes! I took him home with me since all our fosters are full. This 2.5 week old little boy was found alone in this condition outside of a barn crying. He had a dead decomposing botfly embedded in his back that caused a large abscess, and a URI. With the botfly removed and proper care, he has been doing so much better!

Thank you to his good samaritan angel for saving this little one and finding us. Even though we are closed to intake, this little guy couldn't wait.

Once he is 4 weeks old (he will outgrow my incubator at that time), we will be looking for a longer term foster. If you are interested in fostering Garfield for about 8 weeks, please let us know. Since he is so young, he would need to be quarantined from other animals in the home, and transported for vet appointments.

In the meantime I'm enjoying this little guy's company.

Send some love to Garfield ❤️

Adopted!!!!

🚨URGENT Foster Needed for senior declawed cat! Please share!!

My name is Molly. I was loved so much by my momma. But very sad things happened and we couldn't stay together. I have full vet records from the time my mom adopted me from JB Ogle six years ago. I am very healthy. I am spayed and up-to-date on all of my vaccines, combo negative, as well as microchipped.

I don't like to be held, and I am timid. Lots of things are scary for me and I just need a quiet place to feel safe. Will you help me? The shelter is no place for me. Please someone, help me. I'm confused.

I come with all of my own things, my own litter box, bed, litter scoop, and food. I don't think I would do well in a home that is loud, small kids or dogs. Just a quiet place to rest my head. I am okay with other kitties but I also hide when I am scared.

Thank you. Please no hate to my momma, there was no choice, and she didn't know declawing was bad till it was too late. My momma loved me to the ends of the universe.
