One week old today! I happily zoom all over the arena and then I think I can drink water and dip my muzzle in it! The black tones are coming out in the back of my front legs! Ana, gyosy vanner buckskin tobiano filly! Can make payments while she is still on her mom!

Spent the day with all my client horses, you can tell spring is in the air, and the c**ts are feeling good! I tell my clients I have baby dragons at this point because all but one in the barn are under 3!

Sorry not sorry, more baby pictures of sweet Gyosy Vanner filly, Anastasia! Today has been WINDY and Anna has loved getting out and finding her legs! The Haflinger herd also came down to see the new baby. Mom Jewelette is VERY protective of her baby and the training horses going by her stall all day made her upset.

First day out for Anna! I can’t believe how thick gyosy babies coats are compared to Haflingers! She worked herself up into a sweat and then enjoyed her first roll! She is a sweet girl snd LOVE her teacup muzzle and face!

ANNNNNND FINALLY! After watching all month, last night Johnathan’s 4 star Gypsy Vanner mare, Jewelette had a Buckskin tobiano filly foal by RNG Boondock Saint!
Everything was pretty much textbook and this filly stood up, nursed, and popped and Jewelette had passed her afterbirth within a hour!
I was thrilled to get some actual sleep!
Filly’s name is pending JDW Anastasia ‘Anna’!

Spring for a few days in Ohio means mane and tail therapy! Lots of styles for different horses depending on hair, if they are piggies or not in a stall, and if they like to rub!

Running a horse training business isn’t for the faint of heart. You get the new/young horses for the 60-90 days starting (and you learn real quick the people who want a 30 day miracle that those aren’t your clients.)
You get the show horses where your job is to win, and if you don’t, clients will find someone who will. You also learn to let them go when their goals don’t align with the horses readiness.
You get the horses you adore, and when they do end up leaving for a job well done, they take a piece of their heart with you. You get tougher the longer you do this business but you don’t forget those good ones.
You get the horses who you don’t align with or have bad attitudes from bad ‘training’ and you spend your time trying to help them overcome that.
You get the horses that come into your life as resale horses. There is always a price on a horse if you are running a business. They can fall and break their leg tomorrow, or colic the next day, however when someone is asking a profitable and/or fair price, you have to let them go. It hurts, and you learn not to have that ‘no price would make me sell this horse’ just smile, take the money and pat the horse that just put a new roof on your barn, updated your stalls, automatic waterers, our built your arena. Those are the great horses you owe your profitable business to.
Saying and thinking all this, I do feel it is important as a horse trainer to have a horse of your own to bring along. A horse who gets you excited that after a day of working client horses, and doing the hard stuff, you still want to stay in the barn and work with your own horse. You get to have your own dreams, and excitement, because your training horses can leave unexpectedly, your job is done, or show season is over and the client horsed leave.
After working all my client horses today, and the finishing of the barn, I got this sweet boy out. AKH Kryptonite, my personal 2 year old c**t. He’s the one who I have my dreams with currently. I think of all the cool things we can accomplish and what I can teach him and I get excited when I think about him. And while he is for sale (as they all are) I hope he stays around long enough for me to see some of the personal dreams achieved. And if he doesn’t I will find another personal ‘dream’ We as trainers need to have something to get excited about without the fear of it leaving because of someone else’s choice.
And so today, after my cloent horses were worked, I enjoyed my boy with a good grooming and and complete mane and tail conditioned and re braided. It was something that made me feel good at the end of the day!

TR in the Shadows ‘Ronan’

I have had the pleasure of bringing along this lovely, 3 year old Gypsy Vanner Stallion TR in the Shadows ‘Ronan’ this year. This horse is so absolutely kind, and good hearted, and tries each day. Our 13 year old, Ty, has asked to ride him and so after asking owners, Mark and Jessica Reed, I allowed him. Thank you for allowing me to bring him along slowly and keeping him happy. He will accomplish great things no matter what direction he ends up going!
