Today was all about the boys! 3 year old gypsy stallion RNG Kate’s Shadow and 3 year old TR in the Shadows had lots of driving classes this morning! We had the judges equally split 1st and 2nd places all day, with Rev coming out on top as Champion Pleasure Driving, and Ronan Reserve Champion Pleasure Driving! Driven by Mike and Jacque Woodward and Duane Stutzman!

Another weekend, another show! Our gypsy vanner show string did great today! Proud of everyone!
Yearling stallion AKH Kryptonite placed first under both judges in a lovely class of 5 stallion before going against the big boys and ended grand champion with 1 judge and reserve grand champion with the other! He is available!!
Yearling Filky AKH Sophie placed first and 2nd in another 6 class field and was again reserve grand champion mare under 1 judge! She is available!
Two year old gelding Five Paddocks Thor won under both judges in his aged class, was 1/2 in youth halter and was also reserve grand champion under 1 judge!

Proud mama moment last night after the rain when Ty wanted to work with Thor and back him! This was Ty’s first time backing a horse and Thor handled his first rider beautifully! Very proud of these two and the connection that they have!

This morning Ty helped me with Thors saddle training. He asked Thor to move off with the saddle and bridle on, and also feel weight. These two have such a great bond! Thor was completely unbothered by it all! 💕🦄

We introduced Thor to the saddle and bridle today! He was a true gentleman and was completely unfazed by the new tack. We even introduced ground driving and he caught on so quickly! Ty has really done a fantastic job with his ground work and showing him has helped him be ready for this next step in his training!

I really held off body clipping my yearling buckskin gypsy vanner, AKH Kryptonite because he is a buckskin roan, and I wasn’t sure what that roan gene was going to do color wise. However, poor guy was just to hot even inside with fans. So Mike clipped him today! I’m happy with how he turned out! He was so good and stood without needing any help!

This weekend is the first time in 18 years that we haven’t had a Buckeye Haflinger Show. We started the Buckeye Haflinger Show in 2006 and every year since, the show has been held.
Always the people’s show, it was run from donation dollars from haflinger enthusiasts. We always had a great time, and at our height, had 125 haflingers from 8 states and 2 countries who participated. While my phone doesn’t hold photos from that long ago, we will miss our Haflinger friends this year and hope to see you all soon!

Another weekend, another horse show, this time local at home! Thanks to those who came to visit and hang out and also help! We had a lot of fun! Brought all the young horses out for an open all breed show!

The ‘behind the scenes’ photos are my favorite. They give you a hint of the blood, sweat (lots of sweat) tears, and fun times we have when showing our beautiful horses. We have amazing clients who chip in and help, we have great family and help who stay home while we are running to three different states in the span of 3 weeks, and the family unit of horse show friends who we love to hang out with.
Our success is nothing without everyone involved.
Shows are meant to be fun. Before Covid, I was not having fun. When Covid hit, I was able to focus on my own, personal horses, and found the absolute joy in achieving my goals and dreams again. Now that we are back at it with two different breed show strings, I have to remember to have fun and enjoy the process. The young horses are the hardest, but also the most rewarding in the end. I’ve never had a ‘finished’ horse come to me to be shown. I always develop them and then they move on to great careers for their owners or new buyer. It’s what we do.
Make sure your find the fun in what you do with your horse. Remember your ‘why’ and don’t forget those behind the scenes photos!

Ty and his two year old gypsy vanner gelding, Five Paddocks Thor, had a great show in Kentucky also! They won the 2 year old gelding halter under both judges and took 2nd and 4th in youth halter!

Normally the day after a show weekend we take the day off. However, with basically two show strings, that isn’t possible. So we worked the Haflingers tonight.
Makin M’Look DSSH owned by Duane Stutzman and Hannika ‘Sassy’ owned by the Sassy Syndicate.

Day 3 at the Kentucky Horse Park Gypsy Live Show is a wrap! Western dressage this morning with 3 year old Gypsy Vanner stallion RNG Kate’s Shadow ‘The Revolver’ first ever western dressage tests! Rev pulled all the stops out today, bringing home the blue with a 75% and a 3rd with a 69%! I’m so darn proud of him and know he’s only going to get better! Owned By Mark and Jessica Reed!

Welp, Day 2 at the Gypsy Vanner Show horse show is in the books. 3 year old RNG Kate’s Shadow ‘The Revolver’ gave me moments, (brief moments) of excellence today. Still a three year old, he was pretty excited to be in the show ring.
TR In The Shadows ‘Ronan’ had a great day in the western classes, taking home 2, 2nd place ribbons in Jr Horse western pleasure out of a nice class! Then owner Jessica Reed placed in her amateur owner classes on him!

So proud of this three year old stallion RNG Kate’s Shadow ‘The Revolver’ owned by Mark and Jessica Reed! Rev won under one judge in his halter class and 2nd with the other!
However, driving was amazing! Rev won the Gypsy Live Invitational driving champion! He was driven by Jacque and also Duane Stutzman.

Lots of placings to announce at the Gypsy Live Kentucky Gypsy Live Crown Invitational Show! First up Miss AKH Sophie! Bred by All Kings Horses and Owned by Johnathan Woodward, this filly’s first time off the farm did not disapoint!
Sophie was named first place unanimously in her weanling/yearling mare halter class! She then went on to be named Reserve Grand Champion Mare overall under one of the judges!

We made it home from the Florida show just in time for excessive heat and humidity in Ohio! What the heck? Boys had a day off today while other horses were worked in cooler hours. Mom helped me unpack the trailer as we plan the repacking again for later in the week. Whew!

Our 4th and final day at the Jacksonville, Florida Gypsy Vanner Show. Today, TR in the Shadows ‘Ronan’ did ranch rail and western pleasure classes for the first time. Ronan was such a good boy and kept a nice, even pace and was good with all the other horses in the arena. Still needs work on a headset, but that will come with any 3 year old in time. Proud of this boy!
We took 4th under both judges in green horse western pleasure out of 6, a 3rd in jr horse ranch rail out of 7, and 2, 5th places out of 7 in open jr horse western pleasure. Packed up and headed home now! Owned by Mark and Jessica Reed

Day 3 Gypsy Vanner Show Jacksonville, Florida, English day! Both boys first under saddle classes! 3 year old RNG Kate’s Shadow ‘The Revolver’ and 3 year old TR In The Shadows ‘Ronan’
Rev was my freight train today, yesterday the big ass fans in the arena was really hard for him to get use to. Today we rode in the arena and while up, he handled it well.
Green Horse dressage Suitability 1st under one judge, 2nd with other!
Jr horse suitability, 4th under 1 judge
Ronan was a star and went into the show pen ‘cold’ with no warm up since Rev was before him. Didn’t matter to Mr. Big Man as he went right in and put down some amazing rides earning him 2, 2nd places in Green Horse English Pleasure walk Trot!
In Junior horse walk trot he took a 2nd and 4th place!
Super proud of these boys!

Today was TR in the Shadows ‘Ronans’ day to shine! 1st under one judge, 2nd with the other, and reserve grand champion stallion under 1 judge. He also won International bred halter class under both judges! Handled by Mike Woodward, owned by Mark and Jessica Reed. Gypsy Vanner Show at Jacksonville, Florida!

The absolute joy I feel right now in posting our first time driving these 3 year old stallions is unimaginable. These boys gave us their heart and soul and buckled down and not only got the job done but came through with the blues in some absolutely amazing competition! RNG Kates Shadow ‘The Revolver’ and TR In the Shadows ‘Ronan’.
So proud and honored to have these boys in our barn and the trust that owners Mark and Jessica Reed have put in us to start them slowly and carefully we are forever grateful. Wish you were both at the show to enjoy in this adventure!

No rest for the weary! Home and unpacked/repacking for the next show! Dress rehearsal tonight for these lovely boys!
I’m very thankful for our friends and family who help us live and work in this crazy industry. My mom always makes sure we are fed on our trips, and keeps the farm and house running with Joe. Taylynn, our new barn girl, has been great at cleaning stalls along with Bella, and kelsie! JD and Joe and Mark have been busy with all things hay, and last night when we got home from Michigan and unloaded, a hay wagon came in while I was checking a mare, and Luke and Mason along with Duane, Joe, Mike and JD had it unloaded and stacked before I was done!
Very thankful to do what we love, even though at times it’s a lot, I don’t know what else I would be doing if this wasn’t my life. 💕🦄

Day 2 of the American Driving Society Ionia, Michigan show! Duane Stutzman and 4 year old mare Makin M’ Look DSSH just rocked the past two days! I’m so incredibly proud of this pairing!
RESULTS
Driven Dressage Training Level test A 1st place 9 ponies in class!
Driven Dressage Training Level test B 2nd place 8 ponies in class!
Working pleasure driving pony 1st with 5 entries!
Super Reinsmanship 1st place all divisions!
Men to Drive 1st place!

We are so proud of these two! I will say that I pushed Duane to do this show. He wasn’t quite sure that him driving Millie for the first time at a ADS recognized show was the best idea. I told him they were both ready and had worked so hard. This young mare really tried her heart out and was so on point all weekend. I can’t wait to see her grow and mature! I thank Duane for trusting us with Millie and allowing us to start her slowly and carefully.

Soooo proud of day one at Michigans American Driving Society Show! Duane and his 4 year old mare, Makin M’ Look DSSH ‘Millie’ had great dressage tests and we have had so much fun! Love watching them in the show ring!
(and yes, for all my driving friends, I left the mane long instead of braiding because when you work this hard for a mane like this, I wanted to show it off!)

And in true Woodward fashion, ‘the show(s) must go on!’ After a rough evening last night, this morning Ty and I headed to Michigan for a ADS (American Driving Society) show with Makin M’ Look DSSH ‘Millie’ and Duane.
Mike headed to Canfield to ringman a saddlebred show.
As always thanks to Mom and Joe for holding down the farm while we are working!

Extremely scary night tonight when a truck crashed through our barn tack room and arena. Luckily, no one was hurt. I had just finished working a horse and had her in the crossties getting ready to bathe when it sounded as though my entire barn was crashing down. Mike was at the other end of the driveway and saw it happen. He screamed at me to call 911 and I ran to the house for service, still not aware of what had happened. Ty got the scared horse back to her stall.
Thank you to the sheriff office, EMS, Mom and Joe, Randy and Nancy March and Sheena and Kelsie who stayed and helped try to get everything back to order.

We are officially into ‘where in the world are the Woodwards’ season. Crazy busy. Today my highlights were Duane bringing his dog ‘Tuxedo’ and him riding like a champ in the carriage! this dog owned it! Future carriage dog entry for sure!
And then I had this cutie who was pretty tired when she got here and quiet. Her and Skippy put down some amazing work and nailed their walk trot patterns! I was so proud of them we ended with a ba****ck fun time!

loving Ty being home on spring break. Red (Aftershock MJW ‘A Rock x Coco Chanel ‘Winterschon CCF’) is ty’s move up horse from Skippy and we decided to see how the pair would go together. Much bigger haflinger than skippy, slower movement, and learning the lope and a slower jog. Love that Red was pastured all last year and came in and I can put a 12 year old one him and he follows his cues like a veteran. #besthaflinger

Gypsy colt ‘Merlin’ decided to exercise himself while other Gypsy ‘Thor’ was the one actually being worked, however, notice the Haflinger colt just standing and watching because all of that is WAYYYY to much effort 😂

Sound up! Did you know that Haflingers will do a ‘dismount nicker’ when happy? About 90% of the Haflingers I work with will do this! If you find one doing it and then they stop, usually it means they are mad at you, usually after a hard workout😂🦄 How many of you experience the ‘dismount nicker?’ comment below!

Just Ty with Skippy, and his cat, Socks, who for the past two days has climbed up on the arena fence and gotten into Ty’s lap and went for a ride 💕🦄😂

Riding Autie today with the babies in the arena too. Poor guy it was like kids yelling ‘mom, hey mom, mom watch this, I’m a baby!’ 😂🤦🏻‍♀️. He was super solid and just tried to do his job. Gotta love my brave babies and their trying to connect with him!

When we were done riding yesterday, I turned out 5 year old stallion, N’Vincible MJW our in the arena. Mike came home and found this. But he had to hide in the barn to video it because every time Vince saw him, he would stop. And it was the death of the ball...
