Three Year-Old Imported Haflinger Filly
Exceptional opportunity for sport horse fans and breeders to acquire one of the finest young Haflinger mares in North America.
Hannika aka “Sassy” is a big (solid 15hh at 3) refined, elegant, and educated filly who rides and drives and has been hauled to shows, fairs, and exhibitions in training with Woodward Performance Haflingers for the last two years. She is polite for the vet and farrier, hauls quietly and ties to the trailer, and has been on trail rides in small groups and alone. She has won most of her halter and in-hand trail classes and won or placed high in her driving events. Barefoot and current on all normal vaccines.
Sassy has been started slowly and brought along thoughtfully; she is green but well-behaved and has seen a lot of the world for a youngster. From the Alps, to a jet ride to New York City, to rural Ohio and points in between, this young horse has had an excellent foundation of experienced and gentle training.
Foaled in Austria (3-17-22) Sassy is sired by the popular approved stallion Narkas https://tinyurl.com/626ne465 who stands at the Austrian National Stud Farm in Ebbs, and she’s out of the top producing Tyrolean mare Havanna. Sassy has her Austrian/Tyrol passport as well as American Haflinger Registry registration.
Sassy was rated as a Klasse 1 (First Class, highest rating) youngster by the Haflinger Pferdezuchtverband Tirol inspectors as a weanling, and purchased shortly thereafter by a group of American Haflinger enthusiasts, the Sassy Syndicate. This group acquired the filly with the goal of importing and raising her through age 3, having her inspected by the AHR, and then offering her for sale. Unfortunately, this year's AHR inspection was cancelled; Sassy can be inspected at any time in the future (by AHR and several European sport horse registries) but the ownership group's plans call for a sale this year.
As a youngster, Sassy is not yet ready for a beginner or child but in experienced hands, she's a top prospect for the show ring and breeding barn. Such a fun day at the Coshocton County Fair! We had the poultry show all day, so Duane Stutzman stepped up and took our 2 year old Gyosy Vanner stallion to the open horse show where he won his class and then won overall best of show! So much fun!
