UPDATE 11/22/23: During the 11/16 Fair Board Meeting an AMAZING letter of Support from Supervisor Foley's office was read into the public record, (document shared on Gibran Stout's page ).
ADDITIONALLY some "guidelines" for the forthcoming RFP (Request For Proposals) were revealed along with a TEN YEAR term, (and renewals), for new contractor. History: Orange County Fairgrounds equestrian center has been managed by the OCFEC STAFF (since 1/1/23) , overseen by the 32nd DAA Directors (appointed by the Governor). Previously, run by private operators. The Fairgrounds EQC is vital to the future of LOCAL equestrian opportunities and is at risk of being lost, forever... EXTENSIVE community support is NEEDED to ensure this vital, historical, cultural, PUBLIC agricultural, educational & recreational facility remains for future generations. Hi all! I am working with a local videographer on a project about horses, youth and mental health. We all know these past few years have been incredibly challenging times for everyone - especially kids. Horses and riding lessons or group experiences have been even more impactful than ever before. We are looking to hear from our young people about riding, the importance of their horses or their weekly lessons etc. on their mental health and how horses help them cope. If you are a trainer and know of someone in your program or you are a parent or young person willing to participate, please send me a PM. It will most likely entail a short interview and video footage of riding/interacting with your favorite horse. Thanks in advance.

until SB 287 goes into effect, anyone hauling more than 10k GVW needs a Class A Drivers license.
If you are interested in a class to prepare you to GET your Class A learners permit (which gives you a year to get license), DM me asap (class is this Sunday, Dec 26th)

OC Fairgrounds Board and staff are looking at the future of the Equestrian Center and working on a property Master Site Plan, they have published an online survey for ALL USERS to complete (boarders, lessees, students, parents, EVERYONE).
