The Classic at Twin Birch was an absolutely amazing experience. We all had so much fun, and I was reminded of all the reasons I love haflingers and the people who own them.
Some highlights:
Poor Whinny (Walker GVF) lost a shoe and went lame, so Zoey had to adapt and show Fiddle HCPH, who had never shown western and didn't have much of a neck rein. Zoey handled the situation with grace and a smile, even when her bridle fell apart during trail class
Kendall continued her streak of trail domination by winning the blue ribbon in walk/trot trail with Lawrita GVF
Paisley rode her best pattern of the year to take home first place in horsemanship with Lawrita GVF
Addy came back from an unexpected setback, and adapted to riding a horse she hadn't planned on, and rode her very first jump division with Lawrita GVF
Kyla demonstrated her bravery and passion as a rider with How Sweet Is CRHF by riding the anxious mare through the walk/trot crossrail division
Karleigh showcased the hard work she has done all summer. She piloted 4 year Albert Prince of PLF through numerous classes at his first show. She also competed in the 2' Hunter Division for the first time. After getting eliminated in both her Equitation and Hunter rounds for going off course, Karleigh focused on learning her patterns for the 2' Hunter Derby where she successfully navigated both the classic and handy rounds and received a 4th place for her efforts.
Finally, our first baby Appomattox CHD (All In of Genesis x Fiddle HCPH) was reserve champion Junior Gelding under Austrian judge Lukas Sheiber.
Despite all of our successes, undoubtedly the best part of the weekend was all of the people. Haflinger people are truly some of the most gracious and kind people in the horse industry. Thank you to everyone who extended us kindness. I would make this facebook post twice as long just trying to name you all.
Finally, thank you so much to the parents (including my own) who have helped make this opportunity possible for these girls. Kendall, Addy, Paisley, Zoey, Karleigh and Kyla, you are all amazing, kind, and thoughtful young women, and I am proud to share my golden horses with you.
