This box of puppies was just brought to us after being found abandoned at a nearby gas station. Besides needing a really good bath (which they are currently getting!) they seem to be in good spirits.
They will receive needed medical evaluation and care over the next few days and are not currently available for adoption. We will post updates when they are ready to find a loving home to call their own!

We just don't understand why Loki hasn't been adopted. Loki is a staff and volunteer favorite, a helper dog for playgroup (meaning he helps with dog intros and introducing new dogs to group), and an overall goodest boy.
Loki is a 7 yr old neutered male Akita mix, and he has called Midlands home for more than 140 days. Loki loves other dogs, toys, and treats, and he prefers children who are a bit older. Loki can be a bit aloof when meeting new people, but he is quick to warm up and start playing. Loki would love a forever family, endless love, and a comfy bed to call his own.

Stormy came to MHS on Monday with a very severe injury on his front leg. Even in his condition, it didn’t stop him from being a happy, affectionate boy. He is recovering well from his successful amputation surgery and is ready to find a home where he can be spoiled rotten like he deserves! A huge thank you to everyone who donated towards his care and pets like him who come to MHS. We are so appreciative for your support and generosity in helping animals in need!

July was a crazy month at Midlands but we made it through! We wanted to give everyone a quick update for 2 of the puppies from the group of 8 that were found in the ditch in a cardboard box. The whole group is thriving and growing well in foster homes and are starting to show their individual personalities!
These little cuties still have about 4-5 weeks before they will be available for adoption!
Just wanted to share a little update on the 8 puppies that were found in a box in a ditch last week. The amazing news is… they are all doing GREAT! So far they are eating well, growing properly, and are hitting appropriate milestones for their age.

This 1.5 year old Saint Bernard/American Bulldog mix is one big boy! He can be nervous when meeting new people, but once you’re in his circle he is the most loyal companion. He would prefer a laid back home without a lot of hustle and bustle where he can nap to his hearts content. Don’t get him wrong though, this boy still loves to run and play and will be a great walking buddy!
