Adoption Success!

Meet Cinnamon Butter, a sweet stray who recently arrived at MHS and stole our hearts. After completing her 3-day stray hold and receiving some preventative medical care, she was officially made available for adoption. But fate had other plans! Her original family walked through our doors searching for their missing kitty… and there she was! Turns out “Cinnamon Butter” is actually Stormy!

We were thrilled to reunite Stormy with her family and officially readopt her back into the loving home she belongs in. These heartwarming reunions remind us why we do what we do.

This is also a perfect reminder of how important it is to microchip your pets and keep their info up to date. A simple microchip can make all the difference in bringing a lost pet home. Bring your pet to MHS, no appointment necessary, and get them chipped today for $27.50.

Say hi to Joshua, Meghan, and Theodore 👋

This trio came from a home where they had lived together so they are hanging out in a colony together while here at MHS. After a bit of adjustment to their new environment these cuties have come out of their shell and now love to get attention and have visitors.

Meet Minor 👋

Minor is a 1-year-old Black Mouth Curr mix who has been learning lots of new things during her time here at MHS. She has been experiencing meeting new animals (outside of her friend, Major.) and new people. She can be wary of new situations, but has overall taken it in stride. She is looking for a home with patient owners who will allow her time to acclimate and continue working on her basic obedience and showing her all the cool things the world has to offer.

"I wanted to write a message and say thank you! We adopted our dog Freckles from Midlands a year ago, and he has been THE BEST addition to our family. He fits right in with our busy life. He loves his human sisters and his brother Murphy. He also loves walks, treats, snuggles, and bunny watching (and sometimes even dressing up as a bunny). His favorite thing to do is hang out at the Omaha Dog Bar and make as many new friends as possible! He is the goofiest and sweetest boy there is. 😊He really is the best!"

It’s Pause 4 Paws Friday! Each week we share an adorable adoptable from Midlands Humane Society.

Meet Mr. Orange!

Mr. Orange is an 8.5-year-old domestic shorthair who came to MHS after being left by his owner in an apartment. He is a big laid-back, lovable guy who enjoys his afternoon naps and getting some great chin scratches. He has a big motor that starts going when he's getting affection and we think he would love a home where he can curl up in a nice cozy lap.

You can visit Mr. Orange and all adoptable animals weekdays from 12-6pm and Saturdays from 11am-5pm. Visit www.midlandshumanesociety.org/adopt for more information.

MHS will be at PetSmart in Council Bluffs this Sunday (April 27th) from 12-3 with adoptable animals.

All dogs over 6 months old have $50 adoption fees through TOMORROW! Our kennels are full and we need the space for incoming dogs!

🚨WE NEED ADOPTIONS ASAP!!🚨

This week we have been running an adoption special on all dogs over 6 months old. They have an adoption fee of just $50 and have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, etc. and yet only ✨3✨ have found homes.

We have 32 dogs available for adoption (78 in total in our care with 14 of those coming in since Monday). We desperately need kennel space and for that to happen, we need to get these deserving dogs a family to call their own.

PLEASE consider visiting MHS and meeting our adoptable pets. We need your help, and they need it even more. We are open today until 6pm and Saturday from 11am-5pm. We will also be at PetSmart in Council Bluffs on Sunday from 12-3pm. Plenty of chances to make a new best friend!

Happy National Volunteer Week! 🐾

We’re giving a big round of applause to the amazing volunteers who come to walk, love, and lift the spirits of our shelter pups at MHS.

Rain or shine, they're out there giving our dogs the exercise, enrichment, and companionship they crave. Their patience helps the shy ones open up, their energy keeps the playful ones thriving, and their presence makes every tail wag a little harder.

We see the bonds they build, the joy they bring, and we are so, so grateful.
