Voted in by popular request, we have Midnight as horse of the month. Midnight is a 28 year old Welsh Pony Cross that has been a staple here at CEC. He is an excellent teacher and has helped start so many young children on their new riding journeys. He’s incredibly social, spending his days roaming, making sure to greet all of his pals through out the day. He is a friend to all, and we’d love to hear about your experiences with him, and see any pictures you might have!

Hello! We are very grateful for all of our friends, students, and boarders here at CEC! Would anyone like to share their favorite pictures, videos, or memories from the farm?
EDIT:
WOW! Thank you everyone for sharing all of your experiences and great memories. It’s so much fun scrolling through all of the pictures. Truly, super grateful for all of it! Thank you 😊

Meet our lesson Horse of the Month, Bailey (Bailey’s Irish Cream).
She is an 21 year old Irish Draft Cross, standing at 16h. She has accomplished a lot since she came here to CEC 13+ years ago. Bailey is extremely well versed from clearing jumps in the cross country field, being an excellent guide on trails, to being stiff competition in the dressage ring. She has captured the hearts of many children and adults.
We are truly grateful for Bailey, here at CEC!

Fabulous finale to our show season! Many thanks go to today's Judge Doris Carlson and her scribe Karen Lendvay who cheerfully and constructively handled over 50 tests; to trainers Dan. Amy and Maciel; to everyone who helped prepare, Emily, Richard, CEC staff; and of course to all the partipants and spectators. I'm especially grateful to Martha Weis and George Podgorski, who returned from vacation in time for us to benefit from Martha Weis Photography. I am also so thankful for our community. Today Jessica Newman and Caitlin LaCoille stepped up at short notice to fill the show secretary vacancy. Morgan Mackenzie became ring steward; further help came from George Podgorcski and Alexa Biron and everyone rallied around to make sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you everyone! Competitors, find your photos at Martha Weis Photography over the next week or so, and be sure to join us again next year. ☺️

DERBY DATE CHANGE: now Sunday 9/8
Unfortunately the rain we have already had, together with what will come in the next few days, means that the field will be too wet to be safe on Sunday. If you have already entered, please let me know if you want to keep your entry in for 9/8, or if you wish to be refunded. Wettest year ever :(!

Something different. Working Equitation at CEC on 7/28.
If anyone is interested, contact Stephanie Hayes. Her email is in the flyer below. I have done many WE conpetitions, so can give a couple of preparatory lessons.
Here's the format:
You will have a ride time for your dressage test which will be done in a 20 x 40 (small) arena.
After everyone has done their dressage test and received feedback with the opportunity to re-ride a few elements of the test, there will be a break and a group course walk of the Ease of Handling / Obstacle course. This is where you get to ask questions, plan your navigation route and touch the obstacles that require you to use your hand.
Each rider will ride their EOH, you'll get feedback and re-ride any obstacles that were troublesome or you need confidence at.
Dressage tests and rules for EOH can be found at http://www.usawe.org/rules.
