Our second Cross-Country Derby is just a week away on Sunday 9/8. Levels for all from Leadline to Novice, with the option to ride a practice round before your judged round. We will run from 10am to 2 pm, starting with the Leadline and Ground Pole divisions. Entries should be in, with payment by Venmo, Paypal, or Zelle, by Friday 6th. Something different. Working Equitation at CEC on 7/28.
If anyone is interested, contact Stephanie Hayes. Her email is in the flyer below. I have done many WE conpetitions, so can give a couple of preparatory lessons.
Here's the format:
You will have a ride time for your dressage test which will be done in a 20 x 40 (small) arena.
After everyone has done their dressage test and received feedback with the opportunity to re-ride a few elements of the test, there will be a break and a group course walk of the Ease of Handling / Obstacle course. This is where you get to ask questions, plan your navigation route and touch the obstacles that require you to use your hand.
Each rider will ride their EOH, you'll get feedback and re-ride any obstacles that were troublesome or you need confidence at.

Such a successful Derby today! The course is ready for our Cross-Country Derby tomorrow. We will start at 10am with Lead-line and Ground Poles. Bring a bucket and a sponge to the warm-up area, as we have the water wagon parked there, so the you can sponge your horse (and yourself!). We are looking for a responsible person to work Sundays and a minimum of one other day per week. Own transportation and reliability are most important. Must be confident handling horses and willing to do regular barn work.
If required, rough board for one horse could be part of the package, plus access to all CEC Facilities. Please contact Emily Grabo, phone : 860-428-1806.

What a show we had today! Many thanks to our positive and encouraging judge, Holly Whitney, our expert scribe, Karen Herrick Lendvay, and the team of people who make these shows happen. Particular thanks go to Maciel Dum who worked incredibly hard to have CEC looking its best, to Emily Grabo our super efficient organizer and show secretary, George Podgorski, Alexa Johnson, Alexa Biron, Morgan Mackenzie and Zoey Rohne who kept everything running smoothly, all our competitors, and the enthusiatic spectators and supporters. Our instructors Daniel Bergin, Amy Rohne and Valerie Hodder did a wonderful job preparing the CEC students and our saintly schoolies so well, and of course, Martha Weis was there the whole day to take her stunning photographs. Look for yours at Martha Weis Photography over the next few days. See you at the 3rd and final show on September 29th.

Open to ages 7-13
Includes a daily 1-hour group lesson, educational activities, crafts, and more!
Laying the groundwork for safe, independent riders
2024 Summer Camp Dates
9:00 am - 1:00 pm, Monday - Friday
$500 per session, including a $250 non-refundable deposit to reserve a spot
Week 1: July 8 - 12
Week 2: August 5 - 9
* A maximum of 5 students per session, more weeks may be added with interest *
If you’re interested in attending camp but unavailable on those dates, please leave suggestions for alternate weeks in July/August!

A perfect start to the CEC Dressage Show season today! Matthew Beasley judged 53 tests, rewarding the competitors with the perfect balance of positivity, constructive advice, encouragement and good humor. Thank you, Matthew! Many thanks to scribe Andrea Palumbo, secretary Emily Grabo, ring steward, Karen Herrick Lendvay, gate steward, George Podgorski, Alexa Biron, the whole CEC team, and all the competitors. It was so heartening to see the improvement in our riders and horses since last year. Credit must go to the excellent instruction provided by Daniel Bergin, Amy Rohne and Valerie Hodder. A rare opportunity! CEC will have 2-3 stalls available from April 1 and May 1!
Our top-notch facility features an indoor ring with LiteStride dust-free footing, an oversized outdoor sand ring, a cross-country course and miles of trails. All boarded horses get full-day turnout if they can share, and a minimum of half day on individual.
We have a comprehensive riding school program, ably run by our group of excellent instructors who can cater to all levels. We offer instruction in all English disciplines including equitation, jumping, cross country, dressage and trail riding. We cater to riders of all ages and abilities, and specialize in instilling confidence in beginner and intermediate riders. In addition, we host schooling Dressage shows and Cross Country Derbies at our facility.
CEC prides itself on its community spirit and friendly atmosphere. It is a fun place to be!

Thank you to those who rode in and attended my first clinic today! Wish I'd had time to take more pictures. I had a wonderful time and glad to have met new people. Thank you Athene Von Hirschberg for the use of the arena and for showing Zulu and his effortless tempi changes! He's still got it. Thanks Jennifer Stearns Cross for getting Moon saddled and warmed up. Alessandra Cockett had a little spin on Moon at the end, for fun. Fun day, good people.
