Scratching is a natural behavior for our feline friends, but where they choose to scratch can be frustrating. While surgery can seem like the only option, there are some alternatives you can try to decrease the less desirable behaviors.

Alternatives:

- Keeping the nails trimmed
- Applying nail caps (such as soft paws)
- Making scratching posts available and attractive by placing catnip or treats around them
- Covering corners of furniture with plastic, aluminum foil, or sticky tape temporarily
