✨ Krewe Member of the Week: Korey ✨

If you’ve been to Resurge before, you’ve probably seen Korey in just about every department — and that’s because he truly can do it all! From ICU and acupuncture to surgery and now neurology, he’s our jack of all trades.

Korey has been a veterinary technician for 15 years, and while he’s skilled in every corner of the clinic, he especially loves surgery and neurology.

In his spare time, you can find him reading, spending time with his son, or playing video games.

Every clinic deserves a Korey… just not our Korey — we’re so grateful to have him as part of our krewe! ⚜️💜

🐾 Meet Samson 🐾

Samson came to us for an evaluation of a large mass on his right hip. His owner first noticed it as a small, golf-ball–sized lump almost two years ago, but it had grown significantly since then.

On examination, Dr. Dena Lodato found a ~25 x 22 x 18 cm subcutaneous, immobile, firm mass over Samson’s right hip joint, with areas of ulceration and hair loss. After discussing options with his owner, they decided that surgical removal was the best path forward.

Before surgery, Samson weighed 107.6 lbs. After surgery, he weighed 90.8 lbs — meaning his mass weighed an incredible 16.8 pounds.

Since surgery, Samson is so much more comfortable and is doing wonderfully! We’re thrilled to see him feeling better and moving easier. 💜🐶

✨ Krewe Member of The Week: Vanessa ✨

If you’ve been to Resurge, you’ve likely seen Vanessa greeting you at the front desk or stepping in as Dr. Yates’ technician. But what many don’t know is that she’s also our incredible Hospital Manager. ⚜️

Here’s a little about Vanessa, in her own words:

“I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. I developed a love for animals at a young age. This love would guide me personally and professionally into Veterinary Medicine immediately after high school in 1990. My lifelong commitment was to the health and well being of animals.

I received my associates degree in Veterinary Technology in 2014 from Northshore Technical College. I furthered my education at Southeastern Louisiana University where I received my Bachelor Degree in Education in 2016.

My greatest joy of being in Veterinary Medicine is to be a part of a dedicated team who helps pets heal and return home to the families who love them.

35 years in this field and still going!”

✨ CE Night Recap! ✨
Last night, Dr. Lodato had the pleasure of speaking at the November Florida Parish Veterinary Medical Association (FPVMA) Meeting at the Holiday Inn!

She presented an in-depth talk on “Septic Peritonitis: Bad Feeling In Your Gut?” — covering the signs, diagnosis, and treatment of this life-threatening condition.

We’re always grateful for the opportunity to collaborate, learn, and share knowledge with our veterinary community. Thank you to all to the doctors and technicians who attended! 💜💚

On this Veterans Day, we’re proud to spotlight two incredible members of our Resurge family, Mike Richard and Meghan Jacobsen, who have both served our country with honor and dedication.

Michael Richard, Staff Sergeant, USMC, Ret., was a part of the Marine Corps from the year 1999 and eventually retired in 2015. His last Duty Station was at 4th MAW in New Orleans and he held the title of Continuous Improvement Chief. Mike spent two years overseas in Japan and held many titles- such as, Avionics Electronics Technician / Avionics Technician Instructor, Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor, Marksmanship Instructor.

Meghan Jacobsen was in the Army National Guard and served as a combat medic (68W) from 2009 to 2014. She served during operation enduring freedom, but also assisted in operations stateside during hurricanes and in Haiti.

We’re endlessly grateful to Mike and Meghan — not only for their service to our country, but also for the compassion and dedication they bring to our hospital every day.🤍🇺🇸

Meet Sabrina - our amazing cross-trained Veterinary Technician and Receptionist! 🐾

She’s been part of the VetMed world since 2018, jumping right in after graduating high school, but her love for animals started long before that. From calming nervous pets to greeting clients with her warm smile, Sabrina brings compassion, dedication, and heart to everything she does.

We’re so grateful to have her as part of our Resurge Krewe! 💜🐶🐱

Yesterday, Dr. Boogie Yates, our neurologist, visited Southern Pearl Vet in Slidell, LA for a lunch & learn! He met with Dr. Eilts, Dr. Cobb, Dr. Rice, and their technicians to discuss an overview of neurologic diseases — including seizure management, IVDD, and more. 🧠✨
