On March 29th, we welcomed a very special new resident to our sanctuary - Sunshine ☀️
Sonny was one of more than 70 pigs rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation. None of the pigs had a safe enclosure, and tragically, neighbors began shooting at them with bird shot. Some pigs didn’t survive their injuries. One of Sonny’s friends there even had bird shot fall out during his neuter surgery. Sonny himself carries a piece permanently in his ear and has scars on his hips - quiet reminders of what he endured for the first 6-8 months of his life.
But Sonny’s story is one of healing and hope. When he first arrived, he had never known kind human touch and was understandably scared. Over time, with patience and love, he has blossomed into a trusting, affectionate shadow who follows us everywhere. 💕
One of the most heartwarming parts of Sonny’s journey has been his friendship with Otis Junior, our smallest pig. Junior had never bonded with another pig - until Sonny came along. Now, the two are inseparable, sharing meals, adventures, and even snuggling together on the couch every night. 🐷❤️🐷
All of our dogs and cats adore Sonny too, making him truly part of the Madcap family.
