Being prepared can make all the difference in the event of cold and winter weather. As the Northern Kentucky region gets hit with a cold snap, don't forget these basic tips to help you this winter.

Simply put, remember the four Ps:
👥 People: Check in on your elderly neighbors, family, and anyone you know that may be vulnerable in winter conditions.
🐶 Pets: Bring your furry friends inside! If it’s too cold outside for you, it is for them too.
💧 Pipes: Cover outdoor pipes and spigots to prevent freezing and breaks. Also, don’t forget to turn off your sprinkler systems.
🪴 Plants: Bring plants inside or use a sheet/blanket to cover plants that must remain outside.

Kenton County has issued a Level 2 snow emergency, effective Jan. 5, 2025, until rescinded.

Conditions of a Level 2 snow emergency include: hazardous roadways with blowing and/or drifting snow, as well as the potential for ice.

Only motorists whose travel is necessary should be on the roadways. Residents are urged to contact their employer to see if they should report to work.
