Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸

Did you know July 5th is one of the busiest days for shelters and animal control? This is due to pets running away from fireworks. 🎆 Make sure your pets are kept somewhere safe this holiday weekend! See our post from yesterday for tips on how to keep your pet safe.

We will return open tomorrow at 8am.

We will be closed Friday, July 4th and we will return open normal business hours Saturday, July 5th from 8am-12pm.

Summer is officially here☀️
Our extended forecast shows temps in the 90s, with heat index over 100*F! 🌡️

🔥Heat stroke can occur quickly in pets and it is important to know the signs. Brachycephalic (flat faced) dogs are at an increased risk of heat stroke: bulldogs, boxers, frenchies, boston terries, pugs, etc. Older pets as well as obese pets are also at an increased risk.

- Limit time outdoors
- Restrict exercise
- Never leave pets in cars!

If you think your pet is experiencing heat stroke it is an emergency and you should seek veterinary care immediately! Every second counts. It is best to call ahead so we can be ready to treat your pet upon their arrival. 770-787-1581

If it is after hours, get to the closest veterinary ER, which for many will be East Metro Animal Emergency Clinic in Covington.

It's June 1st and the start of Pet Appreciation Week! This week was started in 1981 by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) to raise awareness about overall pet care.
Ways to celebrate your pet:
- Ensure their exam and vaccines are up to date and that they are on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention
- Consider microchipping your pet if they are not already
- Buy new toys
- Spend quality time with them!

If you do not currently have a pet, consider donating or volunteering with a local rescue!
