Amber and Tanzanite made it safely to Florida early Tuesday morning. They are now in their forever home with Adriana Daniels, where they will be loved and spoiled.

It is so rewarding to rescue these horses, rehabilitate them, and get them to their forever homes.

Haven't posted about Elsa in a while. She has been doing great until last week. She is having a bad laminitic flare. We are trying to keep her comfortable with meds. She is such a sweetie, and it breaks my heart when she gets like this. Praying she gets to feeling better soon.

🐴 Last Friday Dr. Caitlyn with Countryside Equine Hospital along with her vet tech April came out to finish dentals and vaccinations on Zeus, Maia, Athena, Fancy, Elsa, Dylan and Gypsy. Everything was going smoothly until Mighty Quinn decided to Colic. Dr. Caitlyn immeditely treated him and he is now feeling better.

Once again we could defintely use everyone's help! I
Our bill from Friday is $3,272.80. 😔 Praying that we can catch a break soon.

I know times are tough for everyone financially. If we could at least get everyone to donate $5 or $10 it would help considerably. It isn't often that we reach out for help, but everything is hitting us at
once and could use everyone's support. 😟

Last Monday the donkeys had a vistor come spend some time with them. Maxine has been around Eli and Elijah for many years. She missed them and wanted to come visit. The donkeys remembered her and were happy to see her. Maxine also brought them lots of carrots.
She spoiled the other horses, too.

Thanks Maxine for coming out and spending time with them. As always, it was great to see you.

Update on Rowdy, his bloodwork came back with a low positive for EPM. But after reviewing his spinal rads and seeing how the bute treatment offered relief, we believe his symptoms are coming from a couple different joints being out of alignment. He will begin a steroid series and will have chiropractic work shortly thereafter. He will finish with acupuncture to stimulate his body to heal. He has also started a round of sand clear and probiotics to aid with his digestion and weigh gain.

Dr. Caitlyn came back out and checked the swelling in his face. Again, we think Rowdy was being the old Rowdy and caused some type of trauma resulting in the swelling. He was back to normal within 24 hours.

Went out to feed this morning and found Rowdy's face swollen. I'm not sure what is going on. I'm waiting on the vet to come out. What's another vet bill at this point. 🤦‍♀️
I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry at this point. All I can do is pray that it all works out.

SOS!!!

It has been a rough month here at SSARI 🙁 A bad storm came through this morning and flipped over the shelter in the big pasture. Luckily nobody got hurt. So needless to say, the shelter is destroyed, which will need to be replaced. 🤦‍♀️

On top of this we have had $2600 in vet bills already this month, with more coming on the 21st. This doesn't even include Rowdy's future bills (We will give everyone an update on him this evening)

We are also down to 6 bales of hay. We feed almost 5 bales a day feeding the 12 rescues. We normally have plenty of hay but this winter we took on 3 extra mouths to feed, then Maia coming back so that is an extra 4 to feed.

🐴🐴 This being said we desperately need everyone's help! I know times are tough for everyone financially. If we could at least get everyone to donate $5 or $10 it would help considerably. It isn't often that we reach out for help, but everything is hitting us at
once and could use everyone's support. 😟

Mighty Quinn is finally coming around since getting his teeth done. Poor guy must have been in so much pain 😢 His appetite has increased so he should start putting on more weight.
We will make sure this guy never goes through that again.

We rescue abused, neglected, and unwanted horses. We have 3 new horses that came to us in January, and we are in desperate need of help with the vet bills. No matter the amount, every little bit helps. 100% of all donations go to the horses.
On Monday, Dr. Caitlyn and Danielle with Countryside Equine Hospital came out to finish intake exams on Tanzanite, Amber, and Mighty Quinn. They had their dentals done. The three's teeth definitely needed to be done. The consensus was that Quinn, who is approximately 10 years old, had never had his teeth done, so needless to say they were in bad shape. These three will definitely be more comfortable and start putting on more weight now.

Tanzanite has been coughing, so after a quick check, Dr. Caitlyn discovered that she has mild asthma. She immediately started a round of meds and steroids to stop the flair up.

Rowdy has not been his normal mischievous self the past few months, just acting kinda dumpy. Dr. Caitlyn performed a neuro assessment and advised he possibly has EPM. Blood was drawn, and it will take about a week for the test results to come back.
EPM is a disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It is often caused by the parasite, Sarcocystis neurona, commonly found in the opossum.

So please send prayers for Rowdy he definitely needs them right now.

We could definitely use some help paying the vet bill, which is $1,903.70.

You can contact Countryside Veterinary Services directly @ (770)788-4711 or on you can go to their website @ https://www.countrysidevets.com/forms/pay-your-invoice and use Invoice #938.22
