Meet Gypsy (or Gypsy Rose, as some of the Saving Webster volunteers lovingly call her)!

Gypsy is a beautiful, solidly built Bluetick Coonhound, estimated to be around 4 to 6 years young. With her striking coat and strong, elegant frame, we suspect she might be a purebred. Her appearance is only matched by her wonderful personality—she’s the perfect combination of playful, affectionate, and gentle.

Gypsy is incredibly friendly and social, getting along well with both people and other dogs. She loves romping around with her doggy friends, chasing toys, and simply enjoying life. One of her favorite things in the world? Treats! This smart girl is highly treat-motivated, making her an excellent candidate for future training. With a little guidance and consistency, she'll likely master commands in no time.

In addition to her charming personality, Gypsy is fully vetted—she’s spayed, and up-to-date on all required vaccinations. She's ready to leave rescue life behind and become a loyal companion to someone who will love her as much as she deserves.

If you're looking for a sweet, playful, and eager-to-please hound to join your family, Gypsy might just be the one! Give her a chance, and she'll fill your days with love, laughter, and joyful adventures.

WINTER UPDATE!

As most of our supporters will recall, Winter came to Saving Webster Dogs as a brave 4-month-old pup with a heartbreaking injury. After being chained outside in below freezing temperatures, the chain wrapped tightly around his leg, cutting off blood supply and causing irreparable damage. Sadly, the only option was amputation.

But Winter's story is one of resilience and hope. Thanks to the exceptional care he received at the Nicholas County Animal Hospital in Summersville, WV, he’s now on the road to a brighter future. Soon, he will be leaving their care with a rescue commitment from the amazing team at Friends of All Critters at Shelters who have experience with medical cases like Winter’s. He will continue his journey to health and happiness with them.

We can't thank the veterinary team and Friends of All Critters enough for their compassion and dedication. And to everyone who has supported Winter – especially to those of you who graciously donated to help defray the cost of Winter’s medical bills - your kindness has made all the difference.

Be sure to view the video of Winter's recovery in the comments section of this post! And stay tuned for more updates as Winter begins the next chapter of his life!

Meet Nelson, Saving Webster Dogs Hidden Gem!

This is Nelson, a 3-year-old male Foxhound who’s waiting (and waiting!) for his forever home. We have no idea why this stunning boy keeps getting overlooked—just look at that sleek, tri-colored coat and those soulful eyes! At around 50 lbs., Nelson is the perfect medium-sized companion.

Nelson is the definition of a gentleman. He’s calm, easy-going, and pretty good on a leash—no pulling, just strolling by your side. Though he’s a little on the shy side at first, once he warms up, his sweet and gentle nature will melt your heart. He’s wonderful with people and gets along well with other dogs too.

It breaks our hearts that Nelson is now our “longest-timer” at Saving Webster Dogs because he truly has so much love to give. There’s no good reason he hasn’t found his family yet—he just keeps getting overlooked.

Could you be the one to change his story? Ask us about Nelson and we’ll tell you what a special soul he is. Let’s get this handsome boy out of the shelter and into a home where he belongs.

Please SHARE his story to help us find his perfect match! If you are interested in applying to adopt Nelson, please click on the link below:

Friday we had another injured dog brought to our rescue through the animal control officer and Sheriff's department.

Due to the nature of his injuries, the 4-month old pup went directly to the vet where he was monitored until a decision could be made about treatment. The decision was made today... Winter needed to have immediate emergency surgery to amputate his leg.

Winter came in with a body score of only 1-2. He had been chained outside and was not being fed. The chain wrapped around his leg, cutting off circulation.

We have a tentative rescue commitment lined up for him after his surgery and when he is stable enough to be transferred. The estimate for today's surgery and boarding at the vet office is included here. If you are able to contribute to his treatment plan, funds can be sent to us via Paypal at

Saving Webster Dogs in action - it's TRANSPORT DAY!

Today is one of those special days that makes everything we do worthwhile—Transport Day! Fourteen amazing dogs are on their way to brand-new lives full of love and second chances.

These wonderful pups will continue their journeys across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast:

• eight adorable puppies are headed to Lonely Hearts Animal Rescue in Frederick, MD to find their forever homes
• Chubbs, Maggie, and Mollie are off to DAWGS Prison Program in Pottsville, PA, where they’ll gain skills and confidence in preparation for their next chapters
• Moxie and Atlas are on their way to Northeast Coonhound Rescue in Lexington, MA after short stays with SWD volunteers Erin Myers, and Carol and Dave Martin
• and Honey will be loved and cared for by foster mom Kristin Keelan in Hagerstown, MD until she finds her forever family

None of this would be possible without the kindness and dedication of our team and supporters. Special thanks to Neal Corwell and shotgun pup EZ (an SWD alum formerly known as Elwood), who met the Cowen SWD team in Morgantown to pick up these precious passengers.

And, of course, BIG SHOUTOUT to our incredible rescue partners who make these life-saving journeys possible. Together, we’re giving these dogs the lives they deserve!

Follow along for updates as these sweet pups start their new adventures!

Happy National Walk Your Dog Month!

January is the perfect time to embrace new habits and strengthen the bond with your furry best friend. Walking your dog isn’t just about getting exercise—it’s about sharing adventures, exploring the outdoors, and creating memories together!

Why walking your dog is so important:
✅ Keeps them physically and mentally healthy
✅ Reduces anxiety and boredom (for both of you!)
✅ Strengthens your connection with your pup
✅ Helps them explore and satisfy their natural curiosity

Tips for winter walks:
**Bundle up—get a coat for your dog if they need it!
**Protect those paws with pet-safe balm or booties.
**Short walks are okay when it’s too cold—stay safe!
**Enjoy the crisp air and new sights together!

Share a photo of your pup in the comments enjoying their walk this month, and let’s celebrate the joy they bring to our lives!

Meet Paisley, a true testament to the power of FOSTERING!

When Paisley first arrived at Saving Webster Dogs, the environment was just too loud and overwhelming for her delicate nature. She was shy, withdrawn, and clearly struggling with the hustle and bustle of the rescue.

Well look at her now! In her foster home with Paws Across Pittsburgh, Paisley is a completely different dog—calm, confident, and truly happy. The love and stability of her foster home have brought out the best in her, showing just how much of a difference fostering can make.

Fostering not only gives dogs like Paisley a chance to thrive in a quieter, more nurturing environment, but it also helps them prepare for their forever homes by learning what it's like to be part of a family.

If you've ever considered fostering, now is the time! You could be the turning point in a dog's life, just like Paisley's foster family is for her.

Bam Bam is a charming 9-month-old Bully Mix who found his way to Saving Webster Dogs as a stray in October 2024. Life in an outside kennel can be bleak for a young pup like him, especially with the cold weather setting in. He is too young to be alone in such conditions and desperately needs a safe and warm place to land.

Bam Bam has a sweet face that captures hearts instantly, and despite his rough start, he has good manners. He is somewhat reserved and shy but is incredibly friendly with both people and other dogs. His gentle nature and good behavior make him highly trainable, an ideal candidate for someone ready to invest time in his socialization and training.

At this pivotal age, Bam Bam is eager to learn and grow into a well-rounded adult dog. He needs a loving home where he can feel secure and continue to develop his confidence and skills. Bam Bam is waiting for that special person or family to give him a chance at the happy, warm life he deserves.

Could your home be Bam Bam's forever home? If so, please apply for his adoption through the link below:

UPDATE 1/25/25 - ARCHIE HAS RESCUE COMMITMENT!

Archie went to the vet this morning and has already received a bath, a 4DX test and required vaccinations. He tested positive for Lyme and worms and is being treated accordingly. He will remain in boarding at the vet office until he can be seen by the vet for a surgical consult on Wednesday.

Initial vetting confirmed that the leg injury is an older one that had not healed correctly. He also has an older injury under his muzzle that is cosmetic and doesn't bother him.

Included below are updated post bath photos and xrays.... more information to come!

Well the weather finally cooperated long enough for us to sneak a transport in this morning... THANK GOODNESS!

One of our hounds that came in underweight right after Christmas left for our friends at Paws Across Pittsburgh AND 8 puppies went to our puppy pulling friends at Lonely Hearts Animal Rescue.

A HUGE shout out to these two rescue groups and first time transporter Tom for their efforts getting them on their way.

Wednesday is a stunning 3-year-old female Plott Hound who has been waiting for her forever home since January of 2024.. She has a beautiful dark brown and red brindle coat and a medium-sized frame that will steal your heart.

Described as alert and observant, Wednesday shows great potential for training. She’s a playful spirit who loves toys and enjoys spending time with her kennelmates. Whether big or small, she gets along well with other dogs and is a people-friendly companion.

Wednesday would make a fantastic partner for walks, runs, or just snuggling on the couch. She is spayed and up to date with all required vaccinations.

Wednesday is currently participating in the Happy Hounds Prison Program at Roxbury Correctional Institute in Hagerstown, MD. At the conclusion of this program, she will have completed: house training, crate training, leash walking, and other basic commands.
