ESPECIALLY the way that things have been going in the rescue world. It's CRUCIAL to stop the overcrowding at shelters/rescues and avoid unnecessary killing/abuse/neglect of healthy animals. 🎉ARE YOU READY FOR SOME OF THE BEST NEWS WE HAVE EVER HAD? 🎉 After almost 16 MONTHS at the rescue MAYLEE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! The first photo is Maylee and her new mom. The second features our AMAZING volunteer/trainer, Leslie. Leslie changed Maylee’s life. She worked with her DAILY, dedicating HOURS, to get Maylee ready for this moment. Many shelter dogs like Maylee would have never gotten the chance to show what they are capable of. She was allowed the time to adjust on her own terms while waiting for the right adopter to come along. During these long 16 months, Maylee’s physicaL, mental, and emotional needs were met. We assured her we would NEVER give up on her. We truly hope this showcases the blood, sweat, and tears the Heart of RI team pours into our work. Thank you for following Maylee’s journey and for your networking help. Thank you to our fearless leader for saving Maylee, to our Adoption Coordinator for finding the perfect adopter, and to our rockstar kennel staff for loving Maylee like she was their own. JOB DESCRIPTION
As a part-time kennel attendant you will be an integral part of our mission to provide shelter, care, and love to homeless animals. Your responsibilities will include:
- **Animal Care:** Providing daily care and attention to the animals in our shelter, including feeding, cleaning, grooming, and administering medication as needed.
- **Enrichment:** Engaging with our animals to ensure they receive love and social interaction, promoting their physical and emotional well-being.
- **Cleanliness:** Maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kennels and the shelter environment.
- **Adoption Support:** Assisting potential adopters, answering questions, and helping animals find their forever homes.
- **Teamwork:** Collaborating with our dedicated staff to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A genuine love for animals and a strong desire to make a positive impact on their lives.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding and sometimes emotionally challenging environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Previous animal shelter or pet care experience is a plus, but not required.

Our rescue is struggling to stay afloat. We have only been able to raise about 60% of what is needed to stay open. Shelters and rescues everywhere are overwhelmed, and we are no exception. Despite tireless efforts to promote adoptions, our adoption rates are at an all-time low. Animals that deserve loving homes are languishing in cages longer than ever before, and it breaks our hearts to watch.
Financially, we're in dire straits. We receive dozens of calls and emails daily from people who need to surrender their pets, constantly pushing us to our limits. Our facility is at capacity, and we're grappling with staffing shortages that strain our already stretched team.
Simply put, we're drowning. We need your support to keep our doors open and continue our mission of rescuing and rehoming animals in need. Every dollar counts and makes a significant difference in the lives of these deserving animals.
