Hugo is doing his best to hang in there while he waits for a foster or forever home. He needs a hero and he really needs it fast! Please read the entire post to understand his situation: If you have been following us you know that Hugo is one of the longest residents we have EVER had and has waited over a YEAR for the right forever home. Hugo was born on 8/7/20 and is a large mixed breed. He needs a VERY particular adopter. He is looking for a single female home only. Unfortunately, he cannot under any circumstance be placed in a home with men (he has been ok with men in passing and did well at a Santa photoshoot). The reason we are requiring a single female home is because Hugo has had issues bonding with one human instead of both. We are trying to remove ANY issue possible to keep Hugo from being returned again. We think this is unfortunately a non-negotiable for him. He also requires a home without other animals or children. We realize that such a specific home is way harder to come by and that is why we are begging for help networking him so the right person hopefully sees his plea for help. With all that said, Hugo is really a good dog who just needs to find the right person for him. Our team is 90% female and everyone that knows or has worked with Hugo here adores him. Going on adventures is one of his favorite things—long walks, car rides, and exploring new & quiet places make him the happiest. He does well on a leash and is a very smart dog. What could be better?! They were born on 1/29/25 and are a mixed breed. They are up to date on vaccinations. Please help us spread the word so they can start their next chapter outside of the rescue. Meet "The Girls" Wednesday 3-7pm. These sisters are 5 months old and are a mixed breed. We promised them that their families would be coming for them soon. Please help us spread the word and get them out of kennels and into forever homes. Pebbles (brown coat, black muzzle), Ocean (brown coat), Lavender (brown/red coat, black muzzle), Crystal (black coat, featured at HeartofRI.org), and Twig (black coat, featured at HeartofRI.org) really have it all. They are stunning and their individual personalities are just as amazing. We don't know how big they will be or the breeds they are mixed with but we do know what amazing companions they are going to be for 5 lucky families. Our entire staff and volunteer team can’t get enough of these puppies. So, what are you waiting for? Come in during adoption hours to meet your new best friend. They are all up to date on vaccinations.

Happy Mother’s Day from Momma Mia and her adorable pile of puppies! *PLEASE NOTE: These puppies and their Mom are NOT up for adoption yet. We will formally make an announcement when we start to accept applications.* We are however looking for an immediate foster home for them. They would need a safe and quiet space away from other animals. We provide all supplies and guidance. We are looking for someone we can trust with this very important foster position. Momma Mia is very sweet. To apply: copy the dog adoption application from HeartofRI.org and paste it into the body of an email or print it and email photos of the completed form to [email protected] We will require proof of homeownership/landlord approval and up to date vet records for any current pets (even though your animals will need to be kept away for the next few weeks). We are THRILLED to share that Cheddar, Mossimo, Black Jack, Trillium, and Denali all found their forever homes at today’s Always Adopt event. We want to thank our ride or die volunteers for always showing up for us & our animals, our rockstar Adoption Team (an extra big thank you to Robin Kardane for coordinating all the details to make today successful), our amazing Director Tammy Flanagan Gallo for her nonstop dedication, the Always Adopt event planners, and anyone that came to support the cause. Meet Trillium tomorrow 12-4pm at the Always Adopt event at WaterFire Arts Center. He is the last of his litter without a forever home. He is a 5 month old, male, Hound puppy. He likes other dogs and loves to play. After playtime, he will happily curl up in your lap for a cozy nap. While he’s still learning the ropes of potty training, with a bit of time and patience, he’ll master it quickly! He’s a very smart boy. Give him a chance to win you over. We KNOW you won’t regret it.
