Located in Northwest Nebraska, we are a

family owned Cow/Calf and backgrounding operation. We enjoy the ranching business and always demand our cattle be raised in a realistic program. We run 700 head of cows with 300 head of Registered Angus, 50 head of Registered Herefords, and the balance being commerical cows specialized in the Club Calf business. In addition, the ranch offers approximately 1000 head of feeder cattle, purchased locally, backgrounded on the place and marketed in late summer. The Sellman Ranch Annual Bull Sale, held in March, offers yearling Angus, Hereford, and Sim-Angus bulls, and 2 year old Angus bulls. We appreciate your interest and encourage you to ask for any additional information. We welcome visitors to the ranch at any time.

Tomorrow will be Christmas Day and here I am out forking hay
Cows must be fed on Christmas Eve; A holy day brings no reprieve
To one who feeds and cares for stock - A herd of cows or hungry flock.
My cows depend on me each day to give them care & bring them hay
And when I’m out here feeding stock it gives me time to think a lot.
Tonight, with wife and kids, I’ll go to church & with the folks we know We’ll sing & hear the way the Good Lord’s Son came down
To share with us the things of earth and be as common as his birth.
I’m glad to hear the scriptures say Our Lord’s first bed was meadow hay. And when he woke I reckon how He smiled to see a friendly cow, And meet the man who had to keep a constant watch on flocks of sheep.
It brings Christ close on Christmas morning to know the way that he was born, The Son of God who came to be with country people just like me.

We are selling 68 bred cows on Friday at Crawford Livestock Market. 25 head will be 2 & 3 year olds and the balance running ages. Most will calve March 15 for 45 days but a few are AI. They are available for viewing at the sale barn. Lets us know if you have any questions.

Lighting started a fire in one of our summer pasture on Thursday afternoon. Thankful for the quick response of our local firefighters! They created a fire line with a bulldozer and had it contained with minimal damage. They have been busy these last few weeks so please keep them in your prayers & good vibes. Our ranch is a little higher elevation so we are always a week or two behind everyone else in our area, but today we got our first field down! We have used the combined rake & baler system for a few years. It takes one less tractor & driver making us more efficient! We hope everyone has a safe & productive haying season!
