Animal Services is setting up with the Red Cross a pet friendly shelter at Crawfordville elementary School. Please make sure all your pets are leashed if you have crates please bring them. Please bring any supplies you feel like you will need for your animal. The shelter will open at 4:00 p.m.

With Tropical Storm Debby expected to make landfall in our region as a hurricane tomorrow, we have chosen to close our office on MONDAY, AUGUST 5TH for staff and client safety. We currently plan to reopen on Tuesday with normal business hours. We will be reaching out to all clients with appointments scheduled for Monday to reschedule. Please be prepared and stay safe as the storm passes!!

Meet our pet of the week, Millie! Please spread the word -- Millie is looking for a forever home and is available for adoption! She is about 2 years old and is being fostered locally. Dr. Manuel and our staff were absolutely smitten with her when we met her last week! Please contact our office to be put in touch with Millie’s foster if you are interested in adding this sweet girl to your family!!

Have you heard the news?! A litter of endangered red wolves has been born at the Tallahassee Museum, the first at this location since 2017! It has been a privilege for our veterinarian, Dr. Cassandra Manuel, and veterinary technician, Maria Steurer, to help with conservation efforts for this species by providing periodic examinations and vaccinations for the brother and sister pair. At their most recent check-up this past weekend, both pups were growing and doing well!

Forgotten Coast Animal Hospital will be closed on Thursday in observance of the July 4th holiday. Please let us know as soon as possible if your pet requires medication for July 4th fireworks so that we may accommodate your prescription request before our closure.

Forgotten Coast Animal Hospital will be closed on Monday, May 27st in observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen and resume our regular office hours on Tuesday, May 28th.

Due to severe weather expected in our area, Forgotten Coast Animal Hospital has closed for the afternoon so our employees can make it home safely. All appointments that were scheduled for this afternoon have been contacted and rescheduled. We plan to reopen tomorrow morning. Please be safe!

Local road construction on Bloxham Cutoff will block the Bloxham entrance to Forgotten Coast Animal Hospital on Friday, March 29th. Please use our Shadeville Road entrance until further notice.

Our very own Dr. Manuel and veterinary technician Maria are happy to have played a small part in assisting in efforts to help red wolf conservation at the Tallahassee Museum last week!

Did you know the Tallahassee Museum has been a part of the red wolf recovery program since 1988? Last week we participated in very important research on this critically endangered species. Dr. Jennifer Nagashima and Dr. Kathryn Storey from the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute came to collect gamete samples from our two male red wolves. These samples will be evaluated for quality, concentration, and motility and will aid in future research efforts to assist with the repopulation of the red wolves.

Dr. Cassandra Manuel and veterinary technician Maria Steurer assisted with the anesthesia and monitoring and the Tallahassee Museum animal department staff were allowed to assist with the process. Red wolves are the most endangered canid in the world with fewer than 250 of them on Earth. Thank you to Dr. Nagashima, Dr. Storey, and Dr. Manuel and team!
