On this page we will be helping you with all your grooming questions. We will post many things along the way under “Did you know?” to help you understand how we operate so you will be better informed on how we take care of all your pets grooming needs. Your comments might help someone else so please feel free to comment on our page and share.
Our goal here at Ms. Maria's Grooming, LLC is to give our clients (your pets) the love and affection they deserve in a safe and friendly environment. They have the opportunity to safely roam around the shop interacting with our caring staff allowing our clients to be happy and stress free (Note: we do not let animals interact with one another unless they are from the same household). We pay careful attention and listen to our clients/owners to meet the needs of your pets, with excellent customer service as a priority. We ask that while you are in the shop, if you would please refrain from trying to get dogs attention because this tends to cause the animals to have anxiety. Since we have an open floor plan and we may have a dog on the table, any unnecessary distractions can be unsafe. All of our employees are very patient with your pet(s) and we ask that you please be patient with us. One of our main priorities is making all of the animals as comfortable as they can be and giving them the time that they need.
We want to thank you for allowing our team to become your fur babies best friends.
All about Ms. Maria’s journey:
My mother Clara Adams owned a pet grooming shop in St. Louis, MO. Once she met my father they made the decision to close down her grooming shop and move here to Crawfordville, FL to be closer to family. My mother, like many others, commuted to Tallahassee, FL where she worked for the then owner and head veterinary Dr. Jerry DeLoney of Crawfordwood, Northwood, and Seminole Animal Hospitals. Like most kids when they are young, I wanted to be just like my mother. I observed her talking and loving these animals, caring and building a bond with them. She taught me everything she knew about grooming. I eagerly absorbed and mimicked her every move. Soon I was off building the relationships of my own that I saw her build with her clients. When I was 21, my mother Clara passed away. She groomed in Tallahassee, FL for 22 years. She was loved by both people and animals alike. When Dr. DeLoney decided to open Seminole Animal Hospital, he asked me to join him. I was both surprised and honored for the opportunity. At age 17, I worked for him as a receptionist, veterinary technician and pet groomer. I started grooming at North Florida Animal Hospital for Dr. Simmons for many years as the head groomer where I had the ability to train groomers as well. Needless to say, it didn't take me long to realize that this was my calling. At that point, I started dreaming about opening my own shop. After working in a vets office for so long, I had one requirement. I had to be able to let your fur babies out to roam around free to have one on one time. That would be safe and be able to bond (play) with them. I didn't, under any circumstance, want them to be locked up in a cage all day. In July 2014, my dream came true. I was able to open Ms Maria's Grooming LLC, in the heart of Crawfordville. We have 8 large holding houses (Blue Pens) allowing your fur babies room to stretch and walk around in where they are provided with fresh water everyday and taken outside to potty when here. Instead of being in a cage all day. Yes, I do have "kennels", don't get me wrong. However, they are not kept in them for the entire time they are at the shop. We rotate all fur babies allowing them to move freely throughout. I do most all my grooming out in the open so clients can see how every fur baby is treated. My goal is to give my clients the love and affection they deserve in a safe and friendly environment. My caring staff is always happy to make each visit as stress-free as possible. Everything is done at your fur babies pace to allow a comfortable environment.
“I want to take this opportunity to THANK the many following customers I have had the opportunity to have follow me over the many years on my career.”
Why is my shop “Ms. Maria’s”?
When I talk to my customers' precious fur babies I always refer to myself as "Ms. Maria". I spend time with each one to try and get a better understanding of them, giving love, attention, affection, and positive reinforcement. I want them to associate "Ms. Maria" with a good experience, something that they want to come to and not something they fear. For them to understand that when their owner says "Ms. Maria", they get excited to come and see me. When I get to see your fur baby walk through my door and they are excited to see me.... there really is no words to describe how much I love that. It makes what I do not my job, but my passion. It reminds me why I love what I do. Nothing can give you more satisfaction than that.
