Hey everyone! Hurricane Milton left his path of destruction behind. We came through this very fortunate. Only piles of debris, some usual flooding and power outages at 2 of our properties. Just a big mess but birds are all safe and sound. We checked on them throughout the night. Our hurricane preparedness payed off once again. Thank goodness we were on the most outer ring of Milton!

It may be a hot and sweaty time for our volunteers but the birds are all very happy with the recent weather! When they need to cool off they always have access to fresh water and shade.

Another reason it can be hard to get good pictures/videos is the classic parrot photobomb!

Some of the reasons it can be difficult to get updates on specific birds in the aviaries, especially as a volunteer: 1) Once they integrate unless they have especially distinguishing features it can be difficult to tell one bird from another. 2) If you pay too much attention to your phone camera instead of your surroundings you risk one of these little dinosaurs launching a sneak attack!
