Scooby is still available!

Our handsome boy Scooby is still waiting for a family! Currently in Crescent City, Ca. He has an opportunity to catch a ride with Dogs of Del Norte Adoption Coordinator A’Lissa as far north as Vancouver, Washington next weekend! Would you like to meet him? Read his info below…. Scooby is a 1 year old mixed breed. I'll post his DNA results in the comments.

He is a little bit shy/nervous when meeting new people but relaxes pretty quickly. He is not comfortable in big crowds. He’d prefer to be at home with his people, chillin’ inside or out playing in the yard. He is a playful guy who loves to run and wrestle with his dog friends. He would enjoy having a canine playmate in the home. Scooby has met a cat and would do okay in a home with one, with proper introduction.
He weighs approximately 60 pounds. He is up to date on vaccines, flea treatment, and dewormer. He's neutered and microchipped.

Spay & Neuter Saves Lives

Another whirlwind spay/neuter clinic! Thanks to Public Vet, Dr Gabriel and staff, we altered 50 cats and 30 dogs yesterday. We also wanted to thank Howonquet Village Resort for the use of their building. The year end total for our spay/neuter program is 1607 cats and dogs that will not be adding to the pet overpopulation.
FourPaws, Brookings Harbor Vet, Town and Country, Snipped in Coos Bay, and Salem Friends of Feline. All these clinics contribute to these numbers, and we really appreciate each and every one of you.

We need some help. This little guy showed up last night with this big wound under his front leg. Fortunately, Dr Franusich was able to squeeze him in today during the spay clinic. Unfortunately, the owner cannot cover the cost. So if anyone us able to contribute at all, we would appreciate it. Cost will be around $300.

Absolutely true!

Pound Pitties Dog Rescue said it best and it was too good not to repost!

When we started this rescue, our mission was to help the abused, neglected and discarded dogs in our area and beyond.

Our mission has never been to relieve you of you of the commitment YOU made to your dog when you took them in.

People have babies and keep their dogs.

People change careers and keep their dogs.

Peoples schedules get hectic and they keep their dogs.

People move and find a way to keep their dog.

People run into issues with manageable/trainable behavior AND THEY KEEP THEIR DOGS.

These situations are not unique.

We didn't start this rescue to bail you out. I'm sorry, I know that may sound harsh-- and yes, we know that there are absolutely situations in which people can truly no longer care for their dog- and we help with those as much as we can.

But for the love of Dog-- step up for your dog. Show up for your dog. Show your dog the same love and commitment today that you showed them the day you brought them home.

Dogs are being euthanized in shelters every single day because the shelter does not have space. FRIENDLY. HEALTHY. HAPPY. ADOPTABLE. DOGS.

Your dog is no different than any of the dogs that have been losing their lives every day and if you give up on your dog-- they could be next.

Sad, but true 😭 I would also add, if a rescue says they can’t take your dog, believe me, they really CAN’T. It’s not that they don’t want to or they just WON’T. It’s because there is no room. No money. No options. And I will also speak for other rescuers when I say, believe me THEY LOSE SLEEP OVER NOT BEING ABLE TO HELP.

We are so lucky we are not to this point yet. If we don't encourage everyone to spay/neuter, we may get there sooner than you think.

The Humane Society of Del Norte has helped spay/neuter 1500 cats and dogs so far this year. If not for these efforts, Del Norte would certainly be in crisis.

Please spay/neuter your pets and encourage family and friends to do the same. We can help. 707 464-1686 to get on our spay/neuter list.

Loaded up and ready to head to Vancouver, WA. We have 13 pound Dogs of Del Norte County .Wish us luck that someone gets a home for Christmas.

Zoey is in need of a new home. She is approx 2.5 yrs old, spayed and vaccinated. She likes other dogs and kids, but has never been around cats. She is potty trained as well. She's a sweet dog and needs a good home.

We hosted a spay/neuter clinic yesterday. From one house we helped 17 cats and counting, from another house we helped 29 cats, and counting. How do people let this get so out of control? In total we helped 91 cats and 9 dogs. Thankfully, they will never make anymore unwanted puppies or kittens.

Please people...get your pets fixed, don't let it become a cat-tastrophy!!
