Mountain Tails, Crested Butte's only pet boutique, has been serving both the local and tourist community for well over a decade. We are simply crazy about our animals and love to share that passion...right here in the majesty of CB! If you've never been to Crested Butte, you have a real treat in store (no pun intended)! Set among towering peaks, our beautiful (and historic) victorian town is deep

in the heart of the rocky mountains at close to 9000 feet above sea level. With wide open meadows to endless hiking and skiing opportunities in our vast mountain ranges, this is not only a dream come true for the outdoor enthusiast, but a true Shangri-La for our pets! At Mountain Tails we strive to provide the very best for our furry friends. Whether that be locally processed raw elk, eco-friendly toys or a custom upholstered bed that any human would be jealous of...we spoil our pets and aren't afraid to say so! We're always doing our best to keep our customers informed of all aspects of the pet industry in an ongoing effort to not only keep their animals happy, but also healthy. If we don't have something you're looking for, odds are we can get it pretty quickly and we love doing research on products that are new to us. Although we're located in the middle of the mountains we ship our products across the country (often times directly from the manufacturer)...so if you've been to our shop (or website) and love what we have, let us know and we can have it at your front door in no time. And don't forget, if you're on your way to visit the Butte and need something for your stay, give us a call and we'll have your pet's favorite goodies (food, supplements, treats et) waiting upon your arrival. While we love our furry friends everyday, today is a special day to give them extra love and appreciation! Here’s a few things you can do to celebrate the holiday:
🐾 Donate supplies to your local shelter
🐾 Treat your pet to a bath or grooming!
🐾 Come into Mountain Tails and surprise them with some new treats or toys!
🐾 Go through their current toys and discard any that may be unsafe
🐾 Make sure that any dangerous cords/toxins are secure and out of reach
🐾 Verify they are up to date on vaccines and routine appointments
🐾 Make sure the information on their collars and tags are up to date

Hey guys! Brandon here, exciting news! Today I became a business owner! After 8 wonderful years managing Mountain Tails Pet Boutique, I was given the opportunity to partner with the Scarpa family as an owner of the business! Mountain Tails has always been more than just a job to me. It’s been a space for me to create, serve and connect. Since the beginning, I was given full creative freedom to dream up and grow the business in any direction I wanted. From small dreams, like introducing new healthy brands of food; to big dreams, like moving into our big beautiful location at 506 Elk Avenue. Working at Mountain Tails has given me the opportunity to serve the dog and cat community as well as their beloved humans. The years I’ve spent inside Mountain Tails have largely been defined by all the connections I’ve made with the Crested Butte community. It has been an absolute gift to meet, connect and befriend you all. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! This wouldn’t be possible without your kindness, love for animals and support! If I were to have told 4 year old Brandon, the day he adopted his first dog Chelsea, that one day he would be a pet shop owner, he would have been ecstatic! Again, thank you all for helping this day become a reality! I owe a big shout out to the original creator of Mountain Tails, Autumn Clark (Retail Therapy), for dreaming this whole thing up! To my friend and first boss Evan Kezsbom, thank you for your mentorship and unwavering support! And lastly, to Mike and Anne Scarpa, thank you for seeing my potential and offering me this opportunity! We’re all so lucky to have these fury, four legged companions in our lives. 'Twas the night before Christmas in the doggy boutique. Not a pup was stirring, not even a squeak. The shelves were all stocked with goodies galore, in hopes that St. Nicholas would come through the door! The puppies were dozing in soft cozy beds, with dreams of new toys filling their heads.
