Update on Bella, the dog who was never inside a house. Here she is her first night sleeping by the warm fireplace on the carpet with a nice pad under her. We received another update today, Miss Bella has gone for car rides and walks along the water - she loves both but in particular she just loves hanging out with her new family. Her family says she is so sweet and everyone they have met adore her. There are no words to express our gratitude for giving her the loving home she deserves.

We are so happy when a big, frosty faced dog gets a second chance at love. It’s a great day for Bella. 💗

French bulldogs are a dime a dozen in the pounds these days due to their medical issues - overbreeding was one of them. Carons luck in arriving here due to her pr*****ed a**s which was beyond disgusting if anyone has lived through one. Poor little Caron had two surgeries! cheeky is a sanctuary dog and was a cruelty case in Paso Robles. She is now 18 and beloved by everyone at The Rescue.

If anyone wants to donate towards vet care we welcome it. Mable, speckle and waffles go in for surgeries Tuesday. All are strays and indirect fire victims. An update on the LA pounds: other than too many large dogs left behind due to sheer numbers and lack of adopters, city and county pounds have emptied out due to large organizations stepping up, normal during times of crisis. Once the fires 🔥 lessen, things will return to normal tragic status - overcrowded and too many euthanasias.

RIP sweet Roo, he was so special in so many ways and we all learned from that little guy who was tossed out on a highway in Texas.
From Roo’s Mom-
Replacing a life-long companion is always difficult to do.
After previously having three long-lived vibrant indoor/outdoor female black Labradors Retrievers, I knew in my heart EXACTLY what I wanted for my new family member—another large dog.

After discussions with Charlotte, Meade Canine Rescue (MCR) I attended a supportive function. Also attending in a special enclosure happily running about I discovered about 25 rescue dogs eyeing guests and occasionally greeting dogs on the outside by rushing to the sides of their enclosure to be closer to someone, be it human or canine.

I was amused watching the animated pups but noticed one small creamed-colored dog had remained at the far rear of the space and very attentive to what was occurring. I thought, “what a lazy bones” but soon discovered my statement was wrong as he started to move forward with effort he was walking not on his front feet but wrists with his feet bent back and upward toward his belly—and the whole time his tail was a whirl of joy.

No big dogs available at the moment so I retreated home but could not stop thinking about the the whirling-tailed, special needs dog and thinking he was exactly what I was NOT INTERESTED IN. After all he was: 1. a little dog, 2. light colored hair, 3, male, 4. Chihuahua mix, and, 5. had special needs!

Well that whirling tailed, little creamed-colored little Chihuahua special needs dog became EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED! After my initial fears of dealing with a dog needing assistance quickly disappeared, I discovered he was like every dog— Roo made me a better person in so many ways.

Roo and I were inseparable for nearly 8 1/2 years, and he gave his all to me - The best dog i’ve ever had. Do not fear adopting a Special needs dog! THEY ARE PERFECT AND WILL HELP YOU LEARN WHAT YOU NEED AND FILL THAT NEED. Roo’s mom

Notice the whirling tail - Roo was a happy boy!

What a collection!! Support Meade Canine and find a treasure. We were left a large collection of planes, trains, and automobiles from friends in NV. Oil company gas pumps and Betty boop😊 Franklin Mint, hot wheels, British collectibles, antique trucks dating back to the 1930s, most from the 70s to 90s. Not all had been unpacked but some have made their way to our shop at 4303 el camino in Atascadero and some are at the antique barn in Santa Margarita. Priced at about 30% under sites like eBay and Etsy, there are some fun buys and we will replenish as things sell. If a serious buyer and to view remaining hundreds of items contact MCR at 805-239-4004

Sometimes senior adopters have to return their beloved pets for various reasons (health, entering a facility, etc.) Such was the case with sweet Anakin but just look, she found another lovely family to love her. We are so happy for everyone.
