Look how far Jay Z has come! His skin is healing and he’s putting on some weight. This is what keeps us going when the sadness of Rescue seems overwhelming. Please give Rescue owners and volunteers a pat on the back, it’s a heart wrenching business.

It’s taken me several days to post this picture of Jay as it’s difficult to come up with a caption. Many folks are totally unaware that this type of dog really exists in America, let alone California. We look at him and ask HOW? How could anyone let a helpless animal suffer like this. To help us, we ask that you continue to spread the word to spay and neuter your pets, use social media, emails, personal contact, whatever. We face these heartbreaking situations multiple times a day and many we can’t help because of the sheer numbers. Reach out to us if you know anyone needing help getting their pets altered and report any situations you see like poor Jay. It only takes a phone call. HELP PLEASE!
By the way Jay is at the Rescue enjoying

Beautiful, blind, Glen Of Imaal cross, Wanda, recently came to Meade after owner could not care for her. We decided to see if she would like to come on our evening walk, and boy did she have fun! Blind dogs are amazing!!

Another touching update from an adopter-
Hey Charlotte,

I just wanted to let you know that "Jersan", who I renamed Basil, was put to sleep yesterday after a rapid decline from stomach cancer. I want you all to know that in the year and a half I had him, he made such an impact on me and everyone around me. He was so deeply, deeply loved.

He blossomed into such a beautiful soul. Confident, patient, and devoted. He got to experience so many wonderful things in Canada: boat rides at the cottage, trips to farmers markets, road trips, hikes, and even the cold snow! He had a short time with us, but we tried to make it as rich as possible.

He was my constant shadow and in the last few days I tried to return the favour when he couldn't move much. I didn't leave him for more than a few minutes at a time. I stayed with him until the very last moment.

I wanted to thank you for making it possible to make him a part of my life, even if it was for a short time. He was an absolute gift.

Thank you for bringing Basil to me. He meant more to me than I could ever explain.

And she loves us right back!! we have gone on a lot of adventures together, and our motorhome, looking forward to many many more!! thank you so much for rescuing her!! I’m putting her on Petfinder Places❤️😁🥰🐶

Thankfully, a good samaritan reached out to Charlotte when she realized that this little dog, Penny, had lost her owner and dog companion, and now stays in an X pen area by herself 24/7.

To quote this wonderful lady...."Penny may need a dental and her eyesight is poor … nothing else really obvious… she just needs some love you know?
Any chance you can squeeze her in?"

Happily, Penny is on her way to Meade Rescue as we speak. Thanks to Charlotte for saying yes, and to our transporter extraordinaire, Susan, for driving her from Avenal!
