New Year’s Eve is just around the corner. While you’re busy preparing a pot of lucky black-eyed peas, and planning for get-togethers with family and friends, it’s important to prepare for your pet’s New Year’s too. When the fireworks sound off as you celebrate with your friends and family, the loud noises can make your pet feel uncomfortable, or downright terrified. If your pet experiences situational stress during the holidays, such as fireworks, it’s better to start making plans now to ensure you have a calm night with your fur friends.

This post says it all! These treats sold in stores during the holidays are TOXIC ☠️and may cause your dog to have a serious emergency! Please leave them on the shelf.

As we enter the holidays and the biggest shopping season of the year, we wanted to pass on a warning regarding the holiday dog treats that are starting to pop up in the stores. Many of these so called "treats" end up with your dog spending time at a vet over Christmas. That's definitely not how anyone wants to spend the holiday!

The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell. Now add the pretty festive colors and the glue to form cute shapes, but don't be fooled! Testing on these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde. Not exactly healthy things for a dog (or anyone else for that matter)!

If all that isn't bad enough, the chews regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue, and choking. The chews are also very slippery when wet and become practically impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.

Bottom line: Please be safe with your dogs and avoid these "treats" completely! There are plenty of good natural treats out there you can buy that won't kill your dog!
