Splash Loft Farm & Apiary is a small 6 acre homestead straddling the historic Mason/Dixon line. We are members of the York County Beekeepers’ Association. Our primary goal is the nurturing of honey bees, helping to ensure honey bee survival. Eighteen colonies of bees live on the farm. Many colonies have been re-homed here after being evicted from homes. In June of 2013 we submitted an application
to Certified Naturally Grown and it was approve, we are now on our way to become a Certified Naturally Grown Apiary. Heritage and rare breeds of poultry such as Light Brahmas and French Marans are kept to offer the most delicious eggs you've ever eaten and to conserve these wonderful historic breeds. We are working along with the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy (www.albc-usa.org) to protect our Heritage breeds from extinction. We are offering handcrafted homemade soaps that contain all natural vegetable oils, herbs and essential oils. In 2010 we started with a small herd of Fallow Deer. In the fall of 2012 I started hand spinning local wool for my own use and to offer to the community when available. So, In 2013 we decided to keep a small flock of Registered Shetland Sheep and hand process our fleeces here on the farm. All vegetables, fruits and herbs are grown using organic and biodynamic gardening methods and will be offered when available. Because of our honey bee colonies no pesticides or chemicals are used!
