Feeding time at the rescue! everyone meet our volunteer, Pat! She has come by every week unless she absolutely couldn’t. This past weekend she had a family emergency and still made the time to come by. Her heart for these animals is incredible! I am beyond grateful for each and every person that comes by to help me out throughout the week.
Looking at this photo you might think, “wow this is a lot of Cats!” Well, that’s not even half of them. Every day I get asked to take on more, and I’ve made it very well known that my rescue is completely closed in intake. While some people are very nice when I have to turn them down, other people are extremely rude and aggressive. With that said there are a few points I need to make.
1. 99% of rescuers are volunteers. Most of these volunteers, including myself, work full-time jobs.
2. Taking on more cats would not only be unhealthy for the cats, but it would be unhealthy for me.
3. Until recently I only had volunteers going in 2-3 days a week. Last week that increased, and I’m thankful for each and every person who came to help out.
4. It costs $10,000 a month to function. This includes rent, utilities, medical expenses, etc., not including emergency visits.
5. There are major changes happening with the rescue and in order to move forward, the population needs to go down to 1/2 or 1/3 of what is there currently.
with all of that said, the Rescue really needs some financial support to help the medical cases that we currently have and to keep the rescue going. Please consider making a tax deductible donation by going to the link in my bio!
