SAVE MONEY DURING CALVING SEASON!

If you want to HELP STOP weak calves, scour problems, calving problems, prolapses, and poor breedbacks. Do these 2 things...

1. Have a CONTINUOUS high quality mineral & vitamin combination product starting ideally 6 weeks before calving and through calving
2. Supplement your TMR or current combination mineral product with extra vitamin A, D, and E (mixed at a rate of 5lbs per 50lb bag of mineral)

**Year after year, the best outcomes we have observed in herds during calving season have done those 2 things.
**Year after year, the #1 reason for herds having issues is the lack of VITAMINS provided to the cows prior to and during calving.

Call, text, or stop in to chat about how these very simple and economical steps in your feeding ration can help you tremendously.

As many of you approach calving season, we encourage you to consider the quality of your forages to ensure your meeting the nutrient requirements of your cows. Your cows are entering a time when their nutritional demands are at their highest. Taking samples and having feedstuffs tested is highly recommended to ensure you know exactly what you're feeding. This way, you can accurately determine if and what supplementation is or isn't needed at the time. We can even come and take samples and have them sent to the lab for you! During this season, we are seeing a lot of low quality roughages, and spending roughly $20 on a lab test is worth the information it provides. It is extremely important to know forage quality when feeding cows.
Please reach out if you have any questions!

During the winter season, grasses go dormant, pulling their nutrients into the roots for the long, cold months ahead. Stored hay starts to lose its nutritional potency as it ages. What is left behind while still holding some nutrition can lack greatly in essential nutrients such as the Vitamins A,D, and E. More importantly, vitamin A & E do not sufficiently cross the placenta, causing calves to be born with very limited stores. Deficiencies in these vitamins is one of the number one reasons for weak calves and poorly functioning immune systems, setting them up for more disease potential such as scours and respiratory diseases. Because of this, it is critical that the colostrum provided to them is sufficient in these vitamins. This can be achieved by ensuring the cow is properly supplemented throughout the pregnancy, especially in the last 6 weeks, while colostrum is forming.

We carry a very economical product that's a loose supplement that can be mixed with feed or loose mineral. We recommend adding this 6 weeks prior to calving and continuing through the calving season to boost up vitamin levels. Even if you are on calving specific mineral, additional use of this premix WILL NOT harm your herd. In fact, it will ensure your herd is better protected against vitamin deficiencies!
