Where's the little dog peeps?
Bakij is a 1 yr. old Dachshund mix He weighs 31 pounds and is heartworm negative. Bakij came into the shelter along with another dog "Bella" as an owner surrender by no fault of his own. The owner is unable to care for him now due to lack of time.
Poor little guy is feeling pretty blue to be here at the shelter as it is a little scary for him. He's had the same owner his whole life. Bakij is said to be good with other dogs, cats and kids of all ages. He is said to be crate trained and sleeps in there at night. He will go to the door and whine to let you know when he needs to go out to potty.
This sweet little guy is trying to make the best of things while here. He welcomed all our attention and pets. He walked well on leash and is a good boy!

Due to family and health issues, we are no longer taking in animals. Please contact other local rescues for any assistance. We will try to help w posting any animals in need of homes on our page, etc. We will also continue to try to find homes for our current furrbabies in need. Sorry for any inconvenience. Pheobe needs a home! 4-6 month old American bulldog mix. Appears to be spayed. Was found after Imelda. Gets along w kids and other dogs. Not sure about cats. Please consider her as a new member of your family.

Fiona got a great home this week. She can now be a spoiled little lady as it should be. Also all four of the chi puppies got homes. So hopefully the rest of the pups get homes today.

This is Skyler. She is an older dog that was on the put down list at a local shelter. When we pulled her she was approx 3 yrs old. She is an extremely well trained dog, but no one has come to adopt her. She is now almost 8 yrs old. We would like to place her with a veteran who is in need of an companion. If you know of someone in need of a friend, please keep her in mind.

MTAAR is teaming up with some other groups to transport animals to out of state rescues. Please help if you can. Donations of Food, blankets, newspaper, any supplies you can offer and also monetary donations are needed to keep this great program going. We are getting animals out of our shelters and into homes. We don't usually do this because we can usually patch the kitties up in house. Texarkana is a semi feral kitty who came from BARC about 2 years ago. This little trooper nursed over 20 baby kittens at BARC and saved their lives! She is a little, well, we will say spirited and she didn't get adopted. (She likes to slap people in the head.) Her time was up and BARC called us for sanctuary for her. She has been living happily on the sanctuary property for the last 2 years. Some time between Monday night and this morning, this poor little girl took a nasty spill out of a tree or off the roof and broke her jaw bone. The awesome Dr. Mike Nicolosi at VCA on Rayford is fixing her up. She's got to have jaw surgery in the morning. We are trying to do a quick fund-raiser to get her surgery paid for.
