Another crazy weather stretch, but we are ready!
Hay nets are full and they will have constant supply of slow fed hay. Hay pellets are soaked - combo of Timothy and Alfalfa with a dash of Celtic Sea Salt.
Hydration is everything in this weather to keep their gut happy and moving easily. Tank heater is in, so they will be drinking, but the cold and wet will limit that a little, so I will be offering soaked pellets several times a day along with some warm water under the shed!❤️🐴

Just a few suggestions for this upcoming cold spell.
Fill as many troughs as you can, just in case. Tank heaters are worth their weight in gold! Be sure you have plenty of hay and feed.
Fill hay nets ahead of time so that you don’t have to do it in the crazy cold. Soak hay pellets or cubes in really warm water and add a little salt. Offer a warm water bucket each day - molasses in the water encourages more drinking and gets electrolytes to them. The more water you can get in them, the better. If really windy and cold, consider a blanket just to help block the wind - I find that mine will come out of the shed on wet/windy cold days if they have their blanket. That’s the only time mine are blanketed. Disconnect hoses and drain them. Cover spickets with good insulated cover. Be prepared to take warm water out to them.
If you have any other ideas, please share in the comments❤️🐴!

I have a few barn sitting spots open for the holidays🐴.

It’s that time! 30 degree drop in temp in North Texas!
Ahead of the change and for the next few days …Soaked alfalfa or Timothy cubes or pellets - use warm water and lots of it, add a little salt to feed, molasses water to get a little extra in there, and a little alfalfa hay wouldn’t hurt.
I do these things pretty much all the time, but it is so important during these big changes.
Excited for the cooler temps, but could we do anything gradually this year🤪😂!
