Helping Animals Rescue Team HART is a small non profit foster based cat rescue, meaning we do not have a facility and rely on our incredible foster homes to save animals in need.

Poetry had her kittens on the 1st of November. We just got her from the shelter last week and she is such a great mom. Shes so laid back and friendly. 3 of the 4 kittens have stub tails.

Whew..its been busy here. We've had a bunch of adoptions and thats good! Good homes foe good cats!
We are working on some barn cat placements for the cats we fixed at the shelter a while back. And thanks to all the support we have been able to regroup some!

This little guy was found by one of our fosters. His name is Pogo beans and yeah hes missing his front foot. At some point in his very young life he was grabbed by something and it crushed the bone in his elbow area and his wrist in addition to snipping off that foot. Did it stop this guy? Nope. He runs. He plays. He chases stuff. He loves every cat hes met and couldn't care less about the dogs
No need to remove the leg at this point so he gets to just be a stumpy boy.

What is our domestic cat program about?
Glad you asked!
HART Rescue gets 95% of our adoptable cats from our local shelter. Why?
Our local shelter is a low kill shelter. They dont put animals down just because they've been there a while. They dont put them down just because they get sick or we're injured. They sometimes have to euthanize if they are out of space. That's where HART comes in! We are the only local rescue that takes cats from our shelter. When they begin to get overloaded we rally our foster homes and see where we can make space and we take what we can. Sometimes its just one litter of kittens to give them a condo free. Sometimes its alllll the barn cats so we can free up a whole room! (We will talk about the barn cat program soon)
We have good communication with our shelter so we can help them keep those numbers manageable.
The other 5% of kittens come out of colonies we trap. If we have foster space.

Thundercake just make her pet sense debut!
She is sweet and playful, a little more shy than her sister frosting.

Wr have had quite a few adoptions so that puts money back in the coffers too and we will be able to finish fixing our last fews unaltered kitties with these funds. We are going to focus on the domestic and barn cats while our TNR crew regroups.

Happy Monday cat people! Boy is it rainy today. Foster cats are hunkered down for naps! Except this guy. Coffee bean is feeling better so now hes mad that hes in a condo.
He had a uti so hes been locked in " prison" because we need to be sure he is peeing.
Hes been on meds for a week and he is indignant that we dare lock him away to wither into skinnyness.
As you can sse he is wasting away to enormous.

Look at these three little adorable faces! These babies were on our last fixing trip and now that they are fixed their foster mom is working on getting them worm free. Kittens are pretty susceptible to round worm 🪱 oh those fun worms. But instead of being squeamish their foster does battle with those crawlers. These kids in the N litter (Nemorous, nashhabber and newt ) will get strongid and praziquantel for round worms and tape worms as our standard operating procedure along with a flea treatment. We figure if they had fleas they may have tape worm. They will get strongid every 2 weeks until they go up for adoption. If we still see worms after the first dose. We also give Fendbendozole as a stronger dewormer.
They will also have their ears cleaned and if it looks questionable in there the foster likes to check the debris under a microscope to see if there are any mites. This particular foster has a thing about cleaning ears. OK its me. I have a thing about cleaning ears.
