Cavern Kennels is family owned and operated and is dedicated to producing the finest puppies bred for use in field work or as family pets. Our dogs have gentle yet eager temperaments and learn quickly. Owners, Warren and Jennifer Richey bred Dachshunds for many years but in 2010 they fell in love with Scottish Terriers. In 2016, Warren discovered Boykin Spaniels and moved into the hunting dog arena.
Warren trains his Boykins in basic commands while they are puppies such as come, sit, stay and fetch. He is an avid hunter and dog enthusiast and has been for as long as he can remember. His Paw Paw Hallmark, a WWII veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge, instilled in him the love of hunting and the desire to care for man's best friend. Warren followed after his Paw Paw's legacy of patriotism by serving our nation for 26 years in the United States Air Force. (Logan Richey, Warren's son, also raises Boykin Spaniels in Columbus, MS and is currently serving in the U.S.A.F.)
Jennifer has been raised with small dogs and adores the demeanor of the Scottish Terrier. They are smart, have minimal / seasonal shedding and are hypo-allergenic, which make them the perfect house dog! Jennifer, works closely with her sister and brother-in-law, Allison and Robert Hilton who also breed Scotties in the Chattanooga area.
