I am working on fundraising ideas but for now the need is too great to wait. And as long as they rely on me, I will be here to advocate and beg for them.

I don't know when the responsibility of providing medical care to the shelter animals fell into my lap. But I truly cannot complain about it. I graciously accepted it and quite frankly, I am pleased to know that I am trusted to fulfill such a great responsibility. This brings me so much joy in knowing that our shelter is filled with healthy vaccinated animals and the spread of sickness has been reduced.

I cannot continue to do this without each of you.

Our stock is critically low. I would like to place this BIG order before 5 pm today. I know it seems like an unrealistic goal, but its worth trying.

Our supply tote is CRYING for help to be restocked. And we need you in order to do that.

I am going to share this list every single day.

It is difficult juggling volunteer/transport/medical with very few supplies and being one person.

Here is what we need desperately in order to keep doing what we are doing.

The top PRIORITY needs are:

And at least ONE of each other item on the wish list. Just one would be sufficient for a little while 💖

update time ♥️

We saw an Orthopedic vet for a 3rd opinion 🐾

We have good and bad news. Cookies leg is still viable and looking good. His wound is healing nicely and they advised that we should continue all treatments at home. However, we did xrays and discovered he has a broken Tibia. A rubber band is not dense enough to show on an xray so we only saw the wound in that area.

As of right now, the doctors believe his leg is savable and no surgery is necessary at this time. He will have a "gimpy" leg once he recovers and if it becomes an issue, then surgery can be done at a later date.

UPDATE 💓

Just got home from the vet. They brought him to the back to explore for the rubber band and could not find it. He does have feeling in that leg still. They prescribed oral pain medicine and antibiotics. The goal is to get the swelling and infection down. The Doctor suggested doing epsom salt soaks and warm
Compress 3 times a day. He is far too young for amputation right now so he wants to try to save the leg before resorting to that option. We are doing a recheck in a week and if no improvement, we will have to make a tough call to remove the leg. Which will be very risky for such a young tiny puppy. Im thinking of going to our favorite orthopedic surgeon

He is very active, alert, maintaining body temp but still staying on a heating pad just in case, he has a huge appetite and eating well. He seems like a fighter.

Thank you to everyone who is following this journey! Our first bill has been paid in full! Any additional funds will be set aside for his long term medical needs. I am not very confident that we can save this leg - it looks like so much damage has been done. You can already see the discoloration. But we will do EVERYTHING we can for him. He has a huge team of animal lovers cheering him on.

🆘 🆘 EMERGENCY DONATIONS NEEDED 🆘 🆘

This few day old baby was surrendered to us this morning by his owners. Owners suspected that one of their kids wrapped a rubber band around its leg. He now has severe swelling and a terrible infection. He is in so much pain. We rushed him to our local ER. He has been taken to the back for assessment.

Our rescue funds are so low. We need to be able to cover this visit today. PLEASE HELP! His life depends on us.

Onyx’s Legacy Animal Rescue writes, "Precious is an approximately 12 year old, 15 pound Shih Tzu. Precious came from a partnering animal shelter after her owner became very sick and could no longer take care of her.

Precious is everything true to that name! Sweet, loving, gentle, lazy, and has such an amazing temperament. She loves just to hang out and relax but every once in a while she will chase a little stuffy. She is great with other dogs. However, we are requiring a home with no young kids or large/active dogs. Precious is puppy pad trained and will potty outside if brought out frequently. She does have accidents but not many.

Precious is in a fragile state in her life. She is partially blind and completely deaf. She has arthritis and may wobble at times to get around. But overall, she is always in good spirits. She is spayed, fully vetted, heartworm negative, and will have her dental completed prior to adoption.

We require an application process that is found on our website. We are strongly preferring a local adopter to spare her from the stress of a long transport. Adoption fee has been reduced to $100."

Charm is a female 8 year old 5 pound Chihuahua with a long coarse coat. Charm is 100% typical Chihuahua with the attitude to fit lol! She is a super sweet girl who adores her human and yearns to be cuddled and snuggled all day. She does have jealousy and territorial behaviors with other dogs. She is 5 pounds of firecracker. But nonetheless, she is still a wonderful dog and would make someone an excellent companion.

Charm would thrive with someone who is home most of the day. A quiet environment would be best for her. Someone with no other dogs or very laid back tolerant dogs who will accept her temperament. She wants to be alpha or queen of the household. I would really like someone who is Chihuahua savvy for her.

We are requiring a home with no young children and a secure fenced yard. She may not be fast but she will wander away if given the opportunity.

Charm is fully vetted, spayed, and heartworm negative. She is undergoing a dental procedure on friday. She does have luxating patellas in both knees and we are recommending daily joint supplements for it.

Ive sent hundreds of dogs on transport. Ive gone to thousands of vet appointments at several different locations.

But this appointment was hands down the best ive ever been to. So welcoming, so passionate, and so much true love filled the exam room.

Hope was in absolute heaven and enjoyed every second of it 💛

She gained a whopping 18.2 POUNDS since day 1

How it started versus how its going...

Damn man. Grab us both a box of tissues.

On May 10 someone decided to publicly dump the product of their heinous crime under an over pass in New Orleans.

A good samaritan spotted the dog and immediately took action with the authorities. The officers responded to the call and the dying dog was brought to the local ER clinic where she was hospitalized for days unable to stand.

On May 17 the doctor declared her strong enough to go into foster care. That was the first day i ever met her.

And today, I stare at her in absolute aw. Not just of the physical recovery but the mental recovery too. I cannot imagine how she felt every single day as her body was withering away.

Thank you to everyone who played some part in Hopes journey. This is still only the beginning my sweet girl 💕

Hope update 💛💛

First and foremost, some of you guys had GREAT training ideas!

We started using several different techniques to show Hope how to gently accept a treat from the human hand and she is ALMOST there!

We have be utilizing stuffed kongs, blankets, basic commands, as well as an xpen divider. She is understanding the concept of "gentle" and "easy"

She has gained nearly 10 POUNDS!

She is still amazingly sweet. Wants to play and run. She adores anything with a beating heart. She knows sit, stay, come, lay down, and she heels with a whistle.

Lastly.... but certainly not least... she leaves next week to join her FOREVER FAMILY in NJ.

Hope is prepping to go to a new foster tomorrow and there is nothing that makes me happier than knowing she is fixing to get the one on one attention that she LOVES so much 💜

Witnessing tiny little improvements every single day is an utter BLESSING.

She is able to stand and walk without feeling brittle and weak. She can hold her head high with confidence and strength. She can waddle around for her toy. She can greet and nudge for affection. She can bark for excitement.

These small little differences are the stepping stones to a successful recovery. Im so proud of my girl. 🖤
