As we welcome April today and as the weather heats up, it’s a great time to give your pet a fresh grooming session! Here are some tips to get them ready for spring:

🚿Shorter haircuts for long-haired pets to keep them cool.

🚿 Regular brushing to reduce shedding and prevent mats.

🚿 Nail trims for long walks on warm sidewalks.

We're seeing lots of pups out and about adventuring with the beautiful spring weather. As we do, here is your friendly reminder from your veterinarian to set your dog up for success during outings.

🐶 Bring high value treats to reward good behavior. Don't forget water and a bowl, a lot of public trails or walking paths don't have access to drinking water.

🐶 Skip the retractable leash- it's dangerous and a hazard to your pet.

🐶 If your dog is leash reactive or dog reactive, step into the role of advocate for them. Don't let other dogs enter their personal space, reward your dogs positive and calm behavior around others.

It is starting to get warmer in Central Virginia and we are starting to see more pet's out and about in town. Friendly reminders as we enter the warm weather season:

🌞 Don't leave your pets in vehicles, even for a short amount of time. On a 75 degree day it can take only ten minutes to reach temps of 100 inside.

🌞 With warm weather come the ticks and mosquitos. If you pet isn't on year round preventatives, call our office today to get your appointment. Protection against ticks and mosquitos is as simple as one monthly treatment and protects your pet from serious health complications.
