To all my fans,
It is with mixed emotions that I am here to announce, at the end of this season I will be shifting away from the dog treat business. This news may come as a surprise to most of you, but probably not a surprise to some. After 13 years I’m simply tired of all the struggles that come with running a small business. It’s hard, I’m not good at it, and I’m just burnt out. I’ve been saying over the last couple of years that once my son was in full time school, I would look into something a little more stable… and this year the universe has sent me numerous reminders! The amount of equipment that broke on me became comical. My son started full time school in August. It’s time.
I haven’t decided what I want to be when I grow up, maybe I never will, but I do promise to make this as smooth a transition for your pets as I can. I won’t cut them off cold turkey.
What will that look like? Markets will be business as usual until the season ends on Saturday, October 26th. I will not entertain any “hoarding” at the markets. I intend to finish out each market with stock to sell. So, there may be limits set on at-market quantities. Anyone wishing to stock up will be able to do so by placing an order in advance. As long as treats don’t get wet, they will last a long time… so order what you need to transition. Bulk orders can be placed online, or in person at the market. I will start filling bulk orders in November, and will do my best to fill each and every one in a timely manner. I’m not sure what the demand will be, so I can’t predict what fulfillment times may look like… but I will certainly send updates if I need to!
As things run low, packaging may start to look a little different, some flavors may run out, and more desirable flavors may have longer waiting times (Chicken Breast Meat Chews, I’m looking at you!). Items will appear on the website until they are sold out. Please have patience and understanding. I want to leave everyone with the best memories of Mimi’s that I can!
I will eventually shut down social media, and my website may go through some changes. I will still be making my non-perishable items like t-shirts, mugs, candles, etc, and I will definitely be adding more of those types of items in the future! Please be sure to keep me in mind when you are in need of gift items! I’ll also be able to branch out from strictly pet-themed items. Be sure to follow my garden page for updates on new items.
I also want to take a moment to thank all of you that told me to “keep the change”. I told you it would go into my son’s education fund… and that is exactly where it went! Thank you for investing in his future. Raising a child who is autistic has proven to be the most amazing path my life has ever taken. We face many challenges, and it has made running my business more challenging, but it is absolutely worth it… he has taught me so much.
Thank you all for this incredible opportunity you have given me. Making your fur-babies happy has been very rewarding. I love all the photos and videos I receive, and love doting on your pets at the market. I love hearing when I make a picky dog happy. Since my own pets have all passed on it has meant a lot to me to see all the wagging tails, give all the tummy rubs, and get all the puppy kisses! I will miss that part the most. I’ve welcomed your new pups to the family, and I’ve shed tears with you when they have crossed the rainbow bridge. It has been one heck of a ride!
