Breanna spent far too long on the streets without consistent care, but those days are finally behind her. This sweet senior girl is about 10 years old, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations.

It’s nearly impossible to get a good photo because she always wants to be right by your side. Breanna would rather curl up in a warm lap than anywhere else.

She adores her breakfast, lunch, and dinner and isn’t shy about telling you when it’s mealtime. If you’re looking for a devoted lap companion, Breanna is your girl.

A heartfelt thank you to 3rd & Pine Café in Gerald for hosting such a successful fundraiser last month to help the animals at the Cuba Shelter. It was a fun event, and the patrons were incredibly generous.

A special thank you to Danny Pope and Laura Flannery for all of your efforts. The owner of the Cafe, Danny, graciously donated a portion of the day’s sales, and together with t-shirt sales and silent auction items, $675 was raised to benefit our shelter.

We are truly grateful for their support and kindness to our animals. 🐾💛 please visit them if you can. You won't be dissappointed. The food is great. ❤️🐾❤️

Skippy is one of the young male dogs who was allegedly found in a crate behind Walmart. Unfortunately, the camera footage in that area didn’t provide the evidence needed to prosecute, but what matters most now, is how far they’ve come in such a short time

At about 10 months old, both Monty and Skippy have truly come out of their shell and left a neglected rough start behind them. Both have grown into a happy, social boys ready to find familes of their own.

His brother Monty is posted separately, as they don’t need to be adopted together.

Check out the comments for photos showing their amazing transformation from intake to now. ❤️ These boys are going to make wonderful family dogs!

Second chances come in many forms. Sometimes we just need a little help, and here’s the perfect example.

Both Jasper and Violet have been with us for a while with little interest, so we reached out to our friends at Animal Protective Association of Missouri (APA) to see if they could welcome them through their wonderful transfer program.

The APA has been a longtime partner and resource for us, not only providing transfer opportunities when needed, but also mentoring us in our early days of revamping our shelter and offering invaluable guidance along the way.

Today, Jasper and Violet are on their way to the APA! We’re so excited and thankful that they’ll be getting a fresh start with new visitors, new attention, and new chances to be loved. We’re confident the APA team and their adopters will love them just as much as we do.

Thank you again, APA, for always being there when help is needed.

Edit: Shep is preadopted and goes home next week after neuter surgery.

Meet Shep 💙
Shep is a purebred Great Pyrenees about a year and a half old and weighs 85 pounds.

He had been spotted wandering the same area day after day, unsure where to go but staying close to what felt familiar. Bringing him to safety wasn’t easy, but with patience and teamwork, a caring citizen was finally able to secure him in their yard. Shep was understandably frightened and resisted the leash, but ACO Cade was able to safely bring him in marking the start of a brand new chapter for this gentle giant.

When Shep arrived, he was filthy and covered in matted fur, clearly in need of care and comfort. We later learned who his owner was, someone we’ve dealt with before regarding other Great Pyrenees in their care. Sadly, they didn’t want Shep back, saying he was “too much trouble” because he kept escaping his enclosure.

We know Great Pyrenees dogs are natural roamers, but we believe with all our hearts that Shep wasn’t just wandering, he was searching for a better life. And we’re so grateful he found his way to us. 💕

Since arriving, Shep has been nothing short of amazing. He’s being fed nutritious food, will be fully vetted, microchipped and neutered before adoption, and is thriving in our care. He walks beautifully on a leash and has discovered the joy of toys and playtime for the very first time. Our staff lovingly describes him as a “cute and funny toddler,” and we couldn’t agree more.

Shep greets us every day with a happy smile and a wagging tail. He’s no trouble at all. In fact, he’s pure joy. We love him, and he loves us right back.

Shep likes his new name and we are so glad he is in our care and that we can help turn his early struggles into another “broken to beautiful” story. We’re currently accepting visitors and preadoption applications for this special boy. He can officially go home after his neuter surgery.

💙 Watch the video in the comments to see the heartfelt moment when Shep discovered his first toy…..it had us all teary-eyed.

After waiting ever-so-patiently, the Mixed Nuts have gone to their . Mama Peanut and kittens were rewarded for their resilience by the lasting love of wonderful families. Each kitten went home with a sibling to be a life-long playmate. We couldn't be happier!

A beautiful gesture of love has once again blessed the animals at our shelter.
In loving memory of Gabriel Peak, whose kind heart and love for animals continue to inspire others. Gabe’s family and friends have made donations in his honor before, and today his mom graced us once again with her generosity.

We are deeply touched and sincerely grateful for this meaningful tribute that helps us continue caring for the animals he loved so much. ❤️
