What DAY of THE YEAR is a nightmare for every rescue and pet shelter? THE 4th of JULY!!! We either have dozens of "found" pets show up on our doorstep at Pet Adoptions of Cuero or take dozens and dozens of calls from pet parents who are missing their beloved canine or feline. SOOOOO - please plan ahead to protect your pets from the fireworks!!!! Secure your pet inside in a safe enclosed area, distract them with radio music, offer toys and food, accompany them if possible, have them microchipped with current info, make sure collar and ID tags are on, and lastly exercise them in the afternoon - a tired pet will just want to snooze thru the late night firework noise. The best way to enjoy the fireworks is to know that FIDO or GARFIELD are safely "put up" for the evening!

You’re definitely lucky to be owned by a mini panther in our opinion! 🖤

Just back from another rewarding day at Cuero's Artisan Market. So excited to report that 5 canines were adopted today as a result of our presence at this wonderful home town family friendly and well attended event. Special thanks to Sandra Taylor and Lizzie Rosson for helping out this weekend at the market on Main Street. And thanks also to all who stopped by to meet some of our homeless critters and share well wishes and donations - we are blessed with the communities love, care and support. Missed the market today? Well please come "shop" the shelter every day of the week as Pet Adoptions of Cuero is open 8 till noon - every single day! 407 US Highway 183 South, Cuero 361-243-8550

This super mellow feline is named MAD-A-LYNN. But we would like to make her "GLAD"-AGAIN by finding her a new forever home. It is so hard to be an adult cat coming into a shelter full of kittens. Adopters come and go and they are oohing and ahhing over the tiny fur balls and totally ignoring Madalynn. So here's the scoop on why she will be the best adoption ever. She is deaf and does not freak out every time a door slams shut or there is a loud noise on the TV. She is litter box ready, eats dry and wet food, searches for a sunlight window to perch in and she needs a "forever" human to be her source of love, attention, cuddles and pets. Ready for a calm kitty? MADALYNN will answer that call. Her adoption is a small donation and we will throw in a her favorite sandbox too. Come meet her at Pet Adoptions of Cuero, 407 US Highway 183 South, Cuero - every day of the year from 8 till noon. 361-243-8550

Here's the latest updates on ROCKY - the 4 month old pup that was found abandoned in Yoakum and now residing at Pet Adoptions of Cuero. As everyone can see by the photos he has a multitude of problems and his infected eye is still iffy as to whether it may have to be removed in the future. His legs and his face have also swollen up quite a bit but he is eating and pooping well. The pup has been given antibiotics and pain meds and misc. treatments to help him recover this worst case ever of mange. But he can be treated and it will be a long slow process. Plus the PAOC staff is proceeding slowly since he is still a little wary of humans and who really is his friends. We want to thank everyone who has sent in donations to help for his care and medical bills. We are looking forward to the day when we can post his full recovery photo and find the best home ever for this little guy who has stolen our hearts.

Please see the June 26 update on little ROCKY...........

When your shelter/rescue facility is housing 3 or 4 times as many homeless pets as it was meant to care for - but you get a call about "ONE MORE" that really needs immediate and intense help - what do you do? What can you do????This is the NUGGET/ROCKY story. The original call came to Pet Adoptions of Cuero from a group of Yoakum city workers stressed with worry over a horribly sick and injured young pup with a missing or diseased infected eye. And the photo they sent was no lie. But we need to also give credit to the "back story" of Nugget - we have come to find out that 2 PAOC long time friends - Alanna Russell and Kathleen Amyx were the original finders and discoverers of NUGGET and managed to corral him. Of course this little guy was afraid of humans! He arrived today at PAOC and he is a prime example of a typically abandoned pup that will not give up. The Yoakum staff crew named him ROCKY - and his rocky start in life is about to immediately change. Vet appointment in the morning and multiple therapy baths galore - just give us time and you will see the new ROCKY soon. Donations for his extensive care are welcome - we are praying that this never happens to any other canine in Texas or the USA. Thanks to all the multiple Yoakum folks that were involved in seeing that another mistreated dog did not fall thru the cracks and die in pain. We are going to love on you ROCKY/NUGGET from here on out!

Looking for a LAB or a LAB mix - then come check out the pup, teen, and adult black beauties at Pet Adoptions of Cuero - there's 5 to choose from that are vetted, chipped and ready to go. They are smart, easy to train and ready to be a family pet or your new hunting buddy. The shelter is open every day of the year from 8 till noon or call for a late afternoon adoption visit 361-243-8550. PAOC is easy to get to at 407 US Highway 183 South, Cuero. And if you need another reason to adopt - here's five "fun" reasons:

Once in a while Pet Adoptions of Cuero gets a "lost and found" canine that has way too much going for it to truly be a run-away or abandoned dog. Here's a beauty we named for now GREYSON who was found in Cuero on French Street. This elegant dog has manners and more to match. We have large kennels and runs but Greyson has never used his "home base" for potty time. He has been extremely well trained to be taken out for a walk to relieve himself. He minds, he follows directions and loves to be petted, and cuddled. His one fault - he needs to be the only dog in the household. But what an impressive dog this would be at your front gate or any entrance to your property. If you are ready to be his "one-owner" household - come meet this special pet. He's a true charmer looking for his lifelong master.

NEW PUPPIES? So what else is "new" at Pet Adoptions of Cuero? Nothing else - just more and more puppies being born and abandoned! And like every shelter in the country - we are overwhelmed and "under" staffed to take care of litter after litter, after litter. SO WE NEED SOME ADOPTERS FAST!!! If you are ready for the responsibility of taking on a pup and will love it, care for it and provide all that it needs for it's lifetime - then please come check out these latest cuties. We have the "brown twins" - GODIVA (with the blue eyes) and HERSHEY her brother. Mom was a border colley. Then the tan trio - PENNY, JENNY and DENNY - mom was a small terrier - DAD??? we are clueless? They come completely vetted and at maturity will be spayed or neutered at the shelter's expense. We are open every day of the year from 8 till noon at 407 US Highway 183South, Cuero or call for a late afternoon appointment. 361-243-8550 Please like and share this post - we have 35 other adult dogs that need forever homes too - come see them all!

Pet Adoptions of Cuero has a real winner in this little pup we named OSCAR. If they gave awards for charm, companionship, playfulness, human like-ability and more - the OSCAR would go to OSCAR! Not only he is part "wiener-dog" - you know like Oscar Mayer hot dogs. This OSCAR is 4 months old, long body, low to the ground, kind of wrinkled forehead, lovely reddish "hot dog" colored fur - he's got it all except a real home to call his own. Come see this shorty soon - microchipped, up to date on shots and the neuter is on the house. He's at Pet Adoptions of Cuero, 407 US Highway 183 South, Cuero - open every day of the year 8am till noon. 361-243-8550

GOOD NEWS - little LUNA has been adopted - but MILO still needs a forever home. Come check him out soon!
No this is not 2 "bugs" snug in a rug - it is two of the most loving, affectionate, cuddly adult chi pups this side of the Mississippi. Come meet LUNA and MILO - they are only 1 year old and unfortunately they need a real home not a SHELTER home. They are not related and can be adopted solo or as a duet. Both are piddle paper trained and leash trained for walking or trips to the dog park. And definitely they are "pro's" at curling up in a comfy lap. LUNA and MILO would love a senior or senior couple pet parents to welcome them into their future forever home. Come meet these sweeties at Pet Adoptions of Cuero. We are open every day of the year ( yes 365 days!) from 8 till noon or call for a late afternoon appointment. 407 US Highway 183 South, Cuero 361-243-8550
