Thanks to all our friends in Yorktown for inviting Pet Adoptions of Cuero to their Toddler Storytime events at the Yorktown library. To make this visit special we arrived with a recent adopter - Marsha Edmands who fell in love with her PAOC adoptee RAISIN and even wrote a book about how he was chosen and is now a Reno, Nevada well traveled pup. Marsha wrote the book and created all the illustrations - the book is available for purchase thru Amazon with the proceeds going to Pet Adoptions of Cuero. The complete title is RAISIN...the last chosen puppy. Lizzie Rosson of PAOC read the the pups touching story to the children and special raisin treat boxes were passed out with "Raisin's" photo on each. RAISIN will be back in Cuero in the future and will gladly "PAW-O-GRAPH" copies of his unique adoption story. Inviting all potential adopters to come by the shelter soon, find the pet of your dreams and create your own special heartwarming adoption story. For more info and shelter hours: 361-243-8550

Hey Dewitt County - it's still PUPPY SEASON around here and we have the cutest quartet of newly abandoned pups that would love to have their forever homes this fall. They are super social, healthy and well vetted with tests, shots, flea treatments, microchipped and will be spayed/neutered at maturity by Pet Adoptions of Cuero. We will even throw up some deluxe pet food with each adoption. The group is part border collie, part labrador, a little Heinz 57 and ready to learn new tricks and pet manners. Come see them soon at Pet Adoptions of Cuero - open every day of the year from 8 till noon at 407 US Highway 183 South, in Cuero. For more info: 361-243-8550

Hey that's no reason to just fly by this post - STOP in the name of LOVE and read my story. Yes my name is SKIPPER but please don't SKIP my story. I am a sweet Pinscher terrier mix breed, with a coat of many many brown and tan fur tones. I require little grooming; I'd make a great apartment or small spaces canine; I need moderate exercise each day and most of all - I am a "bonder". Would love to find a master or a family with kids so we can form that special BOND. I can easily be trained - we are known for our high intelligence, affection and devotion. I am here at Pet Adoptions of Cuero where they give us the complete vet workover as part of the package. So friends please SKIP on down or up to Cuero and meet me soon. PAOC is open every day of the year from 8 AM till 12 noon at 407 US Highway 183 South, Cuero 361-243-8550

PAOC had another successful showing at the September Cuero Artisan Market Saturday and we are sooo happy for the new adopters and especially for the 4 lucky canines who found their fur-ever homes this weekend. Don't miss the upcoming October event on the 25th. Kids and Pets in costume are welcome and there will be extra treats and candy to share. Thanks again to Sandra Osman and the Cuero Main Street program for creating these wonderful marketing events. They have become "must attend" 4th Saturdays that home-towners and as well as lots of out of towners make the trek to historic downtown Cuero to see all the specialty vendors and small businesses under the big library pavilion.

Today was so special at PAOC. We got a call asking if we can do a "doggy day out" event - something we would always welcome. But the best news is the caller jumped right up and made it happen! So the first "takers" on offering to spend a day away from the shelter with one of our orphan mutts was Leslie and Jacoby Frisby and we selected ROCKY for the honor. He's the little guy that came to us in June with tons of health problems - all healed as you can see - just now has to learn he can trust and bond with humans again. This was so kind and generous of them to give up their Saturday to take ROCKY out for full time socialization, treats(Chick-Fil-A!) and personal tender care. Sure hope more folks follow the Frisby's example and plan more "dog for a day" options. With a short staffed shelter - this is such a bonus to keep all our pets people friendly and totally adoptable. ROCKY and the PAOC crew send our thanks and love to the Frisby's!

Hey folks - LABOR DAY is not for LABOR! Unless it is a LABOR OF LOVE when you adopt a fur baby. Make this holiday count for crowded shelters and the poor orphans who would love to be your new fall buddy. Make the most of your weekend by coming out to Pet Adoptions of Cuero to take advantage of our Labor Day Adoption Discount Promotion. We have lots of dogs, of course, all sizes and the adoption donation is just twenty-five for a completely vetted canine. We are open every day this weekend from 8 AM till 12 noon - load up the family and take a short trek to Cuero. There's kittens and adult cats too - and there has to be one or two that are ready to bond with you and be your forever pets. PAOC, 407 US Highway 183 South, Cuero 361-243-8550 (Puppies are not included in the promotion - but we have some cuties to see!)

Biggest ever Friday Morning Surprise! Multiple bags of goodies were waiting for the PAOC staff at at our front gates today. And we just want to thank the "secret" gift giver who brought us over 50 new dog play toys, leases, harnesses, and misc. pet stuff. We decided to let little JIMMY, our weiner dog mix have first crack at them and he sure had a ball. Look close and find JIMMY checking them all out. Hope someone will come and adopt little JIMMY and take home any one of his favorite toys. Thank you so much for this generous and much appreciated donation to Pet Adoptions of Cuero. We and our mutts sure do love surprises!

Best day ever for Cuero students and Pet Adoptions of Cuero pups! It was definitely today's Ethosha Lynn Back to School Bash at the Cuero Park! 100's of kiddo's got STICKERED with the new "I LOVE Pet Adoptions of Cuero" stickers to attach to their new backpacks. Three long trailers were filled with the back packs that were given away gratis to the students. All thanks to the many many sponsors and this wonderful organization that created the event - The TRI-CITY Empowerment Council. Our pups got lots of attention too and hopefully will be adopted soon. Thanks to Lizzie Rosson, Marsha Edmunds and Sandra Taylor showcasing PAOC today.

Without spay/neuter, it’s a vicious cycle. 🔁 Female cats can get pregnant multiple times in one kitten season, and within four months, these kittens start having kittens. 🙀

When they end up in the shelter, they can die without their mother if they’re too young. Plus, they require around-the-clock care from volunteers.

Spay/neuter reduces the number of kittens born, which reduces the number of cats in shelters and increases the number of cats who get loving homes. 🧡

Spay/neuter your cats by five months old to stop the cycle!

Lookee, lookee, lookee - ROCKY is making big progress at Pet Adoptions of Cuero. Just want everyone to see that our little abandoned, neglected and wounded pup has come a long way in just a few weeks. All the sores and scabs have been removed and his face freckles are starting to show. If you look close you can see the peach fuzz of fur starting to grow back and his eye is healing nicely. He still needs more socialization - drop by and help us give him another medicated bath or snuggle with him for a few minutes. We want him to see "humans" are going to be his future very BEST FRIENDS. PAOC 407 US Highway 183 South, Cuero 361-243-8550

It's soooo great to have special PAOC friends - and we love it when they bring us some unique dog treats. The crew from Cuero Nursing and Rehabilitation Center brought a surprise ICY delight for our orphaned pups. Using bone shaped forms and mini cups they combined pumpkin puree with Greek Yogurt to make little frozen concoctions. This project was a fun group activity for the residents. The Cuero Nursing Center Activity Director, Jennifer Wilson along with staffer Amanda Garcia were so pleased the pups got the hang of it - licking and enjoying it right away. Thanks to PAOC's Lizzie Rosson for helping share the fun morning with the pups.

It was a super exciting day at Pet Adoptions of Cuero! His Honor, the Cuero City Mayor, Emil Garza stopped by with his lovely granddaughters to check out our overwhelming inventory of adoptable pets. They all went on the 25 cent tour of the shelter and brought us donations that far surpassed that! Thank You Mayor Garza and family!!! We appreciate these new visitors coming our way with hopes that more potential pet owners will visit soon too. They took a minute to pose with some of our vetted kittens and little HERSEY - the milk chocolate rescue pup - still up for adoption. Now we'd love to have the Yoakum and Yorktown Mayors - come visit us too!
