UPDATE!!! Keratoma case. Results in about 5 1/2 months after.

UPDATE!!!!!!!! Update on a horse that had a keratoma surgically removed and in the time period of 4 months we are happy with the results we are getting from the horses hoof growth and recovery.

This horse had a blown abscess underneath the sole and we put a 3D pad with DIM to distribute the weight towards the heels and release pressure from the toe, allowing access to clean the infected area.

Today’s day consisted of making a bar horseshoe with a medical plate. This horse had a case of Keratoma and had a big resection on the hoof wall located on the toe. The intention of the plate is to protect the very thin sole and part of the sensitive structure that was exposed after the resection, also for easy access to treat and change out cotton swabs with medication. Copper sulfate with DIM was placed ONLY on the frog to prevent thrush. The hoof was wrapped with cotton swabs and medication on the hoof wall. Will keep posting on this horses progress as we work on healing her.
