Abbott Valley Vet Center is looking for the perfect part-time job candidate to assist our over-worked veterinary technicians. This is a great entry-level position for someone who is interested in learning more about working in the veterinary field. The job offers great exposure to a busy veterinary practice where the applicant would be working side by side with tenured technicians and veterinarians. Applicants should be able to work as part of a team, be good at verbal communication and willing to clean and organize. They must also be legal working age. It's that time again!! Abbott Valley will be closed this coming Friday September 29th.Be sure to call in any medicine refill you may need on Wednesday September 27 for pick up on Thursday September 28th.

We are so excited to announce the addition of two new members to our veterinary staff. Dr. Carly Fielding and Dr. Jonathan Goff.

Dr. Fielding is a Rhode Island native. She graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. After school she completed a small animal rotating internship at Tufts. Dr. Fielding then went on to further advance her training by completing an internal medicine internship and worked as an ER clinician. Dr. Fielding enjoys internal medicine cases and getting to care for her patients. She has 4 cats of her own that keep her entertained!

Dr. Goff is a Massachusetts native and has had a profound love for animals and nature from an early age. He received his BS degree from UMASS Amherst and is a 2023 graduate of The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University.
Dr. Goff’s professional areas of interest include canine and feline medicine and surgery, especially the management of chronic diseases like diabetes. He is excited to be caring for patients at AVVC and also his new puppy Hawk!

Please join us in welcoming these two qualified clinicians to our veterinary staff. We are very proud(and Drs. Gifford and Tanguay are very relieved) to have them join our strong team. And they are both taking new clients! Call for an appointment!

Here is a sobering article about the local Animal Shelters and Veterinary community being overwhelmed by relinquished pets adopted during COVID, the housing crisis and a critical shortage of veterinarians. There is no solution right now and we are all working at “130%”….at least. This might help folks understand why it is so hard to get an appointment or get into the ER for emergency care. Please know that everyone is doing their best here at Abbott Valley and it is very hard to say no. But sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day for us to see every pet that needs to be seen. Thank you for your continued understanding as we work hard to increase our staffing so we can be there for everyone.

Unfortunately, we may not be able to accommodate last minute medication refills on Saturday due to an overwhelming demand after Friday’s closure.
