Doobie always brings the fire

Hey,
I hope you’re all doing well. I’m putting this post out there to get a feel for how many people are interested in a potential Board and Train with their pup this winter.
As covid numbers continue to rise in this area I want to have a plan in place in case business are made to close for a few weeks.
My Board and Trains are 3-4 weeks long. Your dog learns basic and off-leash obedience. You will also receive a free ecollar at the end of the training.
If you’re interested and want more information feel free to shoot us a message.

Here’s a little example of how to “Muzzle Condition” a dog.
I want the dog to LOVE their muzzle. It should be something they get excited to see; not something that stresses them out and instantly floods them with the anxiety of something unpleasant and stressful is about to happen.
Too many times I see dogs who only associate the muzzle with going to the vets or being in a situation they’re going to be uncomfortable with. That’s because the only time the owner puts the muzzle on the dog is when they absolutely need to.
Start making time to show your pup that the muzzle is an awesome piece of equipment by making it associates with food.
In this video you can see that I have my client start with a plastic cup from a fast food chain. We cut the cup in half to get the dog used to putting it’s nose into an enclosed object. I love starting with the cup because it lets the dog see an enclosed object and be rewarded through the opening. It also helps to retrain a dog who has already been conditioned to not enjoy being muzzled.
“YES” releases the dog from keeping it’s nose in the cup and let’s it know food is on the way. After the dog is loving the cup we switch to a muzzle and do the same process. Before you know it you’re strapping the muzzle on, undoing the strap, saying YES and then removing the muzzle and rewarding the dog. Gradually transition to sometimes leaving the muzzle on for a few seconds, sometimes putting it on but then instantly removing it, and sometimes leaving it on for an extended period.
Try this with your pups and let me know how it goes!

Today is our last day with Beau. 😔🐶😔
He’s come such a long way in the last 3 weeks!!!
•
3 weeks ago he’d of been bolting up the road or trying to get to the pork shoulder I have on my smoker (sorry about the noise from that 😂)
Now, after 3 weeks of training with me his family will be able to enjoy him more in their home, in public, and even Off-Leash.
•
Im gonna miss this guy.
Hell, even my personal dogs are probably gonna miss him. He’s become part of the family these last few weeks. ❤️🐶❤️
I’ll see you soon Beau. Be good, stay handsome, and know that we’ll all be missing you here.
