š¾ The Story of Smalls š¾
We rescued Smalls from Bedford County Humane Society, who saved him from a heartbreaking hoarding situation with over 90 dogs, many trapped in cages š¢. Despite being at capacity, I knew I had to help. I told them I could only take two small dogs, and thatās when I started looking around. The horror I saw that day will never leave me ā the smell and the sight of these poor animals, some so matted with hair and feces they didnāt even look like dogs š.
As I walked through, I heard this little bark. I turned to see a tiny brown dog sitting there, wagging his tail and looking at me with hope š¶. I knelt down and asked him, āDo you want to come home with me?ā His tail wagged faster, and he let out another little bark š„ŗ. That was it ā I scooped him up and took him home.
We bathed him, quarantined him, and slowly, he started coming out of his shell. His name is Smalls, and heās been with us for 10 months and 10 days now š”. He has since attached himself to me (Kerry), and weāve formed such a strong bond. Smalls and Diddy have been through so much together, and he's also bonded with some of our other dogs. Separating them would only cause more trauma, so heās staying right here, in our sanctuary ā¤ļøš.
Smalls is a true example of resilience, healing, and the power of love. Weāre so grateful heās part of our sanctuary family now, and heāll never be alone again š.
