Luna finished her Bronze last month and is also the mom of 2 champions
Sire is a very nice boy from Alaska (Group Winning GCHS Wind of Grand Zold Zolberg BCAT "Vlad")

We have a waitlist on show quality black girls and 1 pet girl is also reserved.

These 3 were very proud to have found another mouse while roaming the big yard

Cardigans do very well at barnhunt we're some of the dogs we bred have started classes into this sport

We don't usually do UKC shows (Ashley isn't allowed to show much there due to being a handler), but we went Sunday to support one of of our owners and to give Hanks as a surprise to a Junior Handler

Kaylee Young and her girl Bonnie picked up 3 competition wins and won a BOB and a Herding Group 3 (Major Pointed Windmill-Del Sur's Bad to the First Degree), she's half way to her UKC Championship (and her AKC Championship)

Hanks showed in Juniors and Breed Sunday with his new Junior and he already loves her. We love how adaptable our Cardigans are to new homes. Hanks has only shown a handful of times (finished at 6 months old and finished his grand in 3 weekends, hasn't shown since last October) so him and his new Junior and her mom Destiny Arnold will work on making them into a great Juniors team (Hanks is GCH Windmill’s Polar Express)

We love introducing more people into this wonderful breed

And the July Stats are out and so far in 2024 Dayton is #8 Cardigan (his 5th year in the top 10) AND our Beautiful Dayton daughter Ember is #12 Cardigan and #2 Female

Two different breeds!

Factoid: Two Corgis – Two Breeds

Though they share the word, “Corgi” in their names, the Cardigan Welsh Corgi and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi are two distinct breeds with different origins: The Cardigan originated with the Teckel family of dogs, while the Pembroke originated with the Spitz and Finnish families.

There was a time in England, however, when for a very brief time, the Cardigan Welsh Corgis and Pembroke Welsh Corgis were interbred because they were considered one breed divided into two types. The Kennel Club (England’s version of the AKC) even had them listed in its studbook as a single breed which allowed the two types to be crossed. This error was amended in 1934 when after years of vigorous complaints by the frustrated breeders of each, the Kennel Club finally listed them as the two very distinct breeds they are. The catalyst for this move may have been formed years earlier when the English Cardigan Welsh Corgi Association was organized in 1926. After nine years of protests and lobbying by breeders, fanciers, and the club itself, the Kennel Club separated the two breeds in 1934 as they should have been from the beginning. This undoubtedly helped influence the AKC to also admit the two as separate breeds.

It’s difficult to imagine that the two were ever thought of as anything other than two very distinct breeds they are. The Cardigan has a longer body, slightly heavier bones, larger and rounder ears at the tips, rounder feet that tend to point outwards, and of course, a tail. The Pembroke’s ears are erect, firm, and taper slightly to a rounded point, and his more oval shaped feet generally point straight forward. Differences extend to temperaments, as well. When inquiring about the distinctions between the two breed personalities, we were once told that a Cardigan Welsh Corgi could be seen as the friendly but reserved butler greeting party guests at the door, while the Pembroke would be swinging on a chandelier reciting b***y limericks to the other party goers.

For anyone who struggles to tell the two apart, here’s a nemonic device: A cardigan sweater has long sleeves. Remember that the Cardigan Welsh Corgi has a long tail.

She's 5 months old and looking for her perfect home (available at our normal puppy price, but bonus she has all shots done and is crate and leash trained)

We let her grow up some more before searching because her brothers always beat her up

Now she's a sweet happy and loving girl. Great with kids, cats, other dogs, etc

A great weekend fairly close to home in Longview, TX

Dayton was Herding Group 2 on Sun, BOB Sat, BOS Fri (Multiple Group Winning GCHP XIV Karat A Date to Remember RN FDC CGC TKN VC)

Zelda (GCH Windmill’s The Legend of Zelda CGC ATT) and Teagan were Select and BOBOH all 3 days and placed in Junior Showmanship all 3 days (Sired by National AOM GCH Windmill’s Remember the Time (Dayton son) and out of CH Woodrose Playing Games ROMVB)

Posh (Windmill’s Can't Buy Me Love) was WB/BOW on Fri, RWB sat, and won her class Sun. She now has 5 points at 7 months old

Jagger (Windmill’s Get Off of my Cloud) made his show debut and on Sat was WD and WD/BOW Sun for his first 2 points, he is the littermate to Posh

We didn't show many cardigans at Houston this year due to everyone being finished (with Championships or Grands) besides baby Posh, but our biggest Winner was our Junior Handler Teagan and young Zelda.

They were BOB Owner Handled all 5 shows and Select at the 4 all breeds. On Saturday they made the cut in the large Owner Handled Group!

Zelda is 21 months old and Teagan is 13 so we could not be more proud of this team.

Luna won a BOB and 2 BOSs at San Antonio this past weekend!

These wins helped complete her Bronze Grand Championship! Not an easy feat for a tight coated, blue merle girl with 2 blue eyes.

Luna will retire from all breed shows and make occasional appearances at the national or other specialties in the future, but first she wants more babies!

A tad behind on show reporting.

1st up our Junior Handler Teagan and Zelda at the Dallas dog show won 2 first place wins in Junior Showmanship and in breed they won a big Select and BOBOH for 5 points

This is the first time they have done Owner Handler and we are excited to see what else they can achieve

White on ears is acceptable!!!

All pictured are Champions (2 are grands)

I have had judges look at the standard on almost all of them (yes even Selena with her small spot on the back of her ear)

The tan pointed dogs have very light tan on the ears so it makes them look even more white

It makes Cardigans unique from Pems and several other herding breeds

Great to see everyone having this conversation

She and Zelda earned their Canine Good Citizen titles (honestly both are already perfect dogs out in public and home, always making people fall in love with the breed)
